Gents,

I need your help, I've been looking for a really clean manual 997 turbo for about 4 months, in which time I've seen prices move from late 40's to early 50's.

I've missed out on 3 cars because I couldn't get there within 24 hours. It has even made me look at R8 v10's, more money I know but easier to find.

There is a nice 997 turbo for sale in the classifieds, it's strong money and doesn't have full OPC history which might limit options come resale, what are people's opinions?

Do people think there is any value in placing a wanted ad? Someone who might be thinking about a change and wants a swift and hassle free sale?

Cheers

I have never had any success with wanted adverts. I bought one last year and missed several. In the end I was having to monitor adverts, phone straight away and put deposit over phone!!

I toyed with selling mine around xmas, but went out to garage next day and couldn't do it, plus I realised that if I regretted it I would struggle to replace it, so decided to think about it for a while. Prices are still going up and we haven't even got to summer yet.....

The other way, probably safer if a little more expensive might be to talk to a reputable independent dealer; if you're serious there's no reason you can't have first refusal and these people are often offered the decen cars (to maximise the seller's return) and get to know who might be selling.

I've had loads of luck with wanted ads, I think I found it a little tricky to place one on here though, can't remember why though!?

I actually got my turbo via one! smile

There's one in the classifieds that looks like a good price, but is unsold, is it because of the savanna interior?

I too am after a 997.1 Turbo: manual; subdued colour; mileage under 50k preferred. Tough market but the odd car does seem to crop up.

Good luck, OP!

Stuttgart737 - PM not received please resend.

Thank you for your advice, the next stage will definitely be engaging with a reputable dealer.

The only thing I struggle with is paying a wide spread for little work. For example the 997.1 I missed out on before Christmas was a low miles PCM 3.0 manual which is now at an independent dealer with a £7k premium.

Hence why I would much rather pay a fair price to a private seller i.e. Both parties get descent value.

Any suggestion of an alternative, I can think of few comparables for the money.

Nice 997.1 with a great history and a really good price.

My preference would be a darker colour and less miles.

Perfect spec would be less than 30k miles, PCM 3.0, manual, ceramics and full OPC history.

I know this spec is equivalent to a unicorn!

Damn right... If that's as good as it looks, it won't hang around too long. Even with 65k that seems good value.

Hi OP,

Tried again with the PM- 997.1, 08, less than 30k miles and very good nick. Only selling due to a move to the world of Lotus and lack of space in the garage. GT silver and black interior.

Cheers.

Hi,

I've just seen the big thread about the PM system not working. Quite a few of the people with ADs up in arms.

Please email me at cookmf29@gmail.com

Sounds similar to my basalt car although 32k miles, lots of extra spec (not PCCB), FSH but most is specialist not OPC - do you have an ad on PH?
