Hi, thought i would post my problems and cure in the hope it may help anyone else out there who may be having similar issues.
I have a 2002 VW Bora 1.6 petrol that suffered from an intermittent starting problem. It would start no problems and ran OK, no stalling or rough running but whenever it felt like it, it would decide it didnt want to start. It would either turn over but only fired after about 6 attempts or would fire up but the revs would struggle to get above 500rpm. If i buried the accelerator it would take about 10 to 15 seconds for the revs to slowly build till it finally fired into life.

I first had the Crank Shaft Sensor replaced as i had read that a faulty one can cause intermittent starting. This unfortunately did not cure it, although it did make it accelerate with a bit more get up and go than before. I eventually bit the bullet and had my local garage plug it into there computer which brought up a faulty Temperature Coolant Sensor. This was replaced and i haven't had the problem since.

Hope this helps others out there because when i searched online for possible causes there were loads it could have been from different sensors to throttle bodies, wiring and fuel pumps.
