I've bought myself a cheap MK3 MR2 to have some fun with over the summer.

It has a few minor niggles which I'm in the process of sorting. One of which is a small tear to the hood as shown below.

I want to do something with it before it gets any worse.

I've seen a product on eBay called Cabriodoc which ships from Germany I might try, but wondered before doing so if anybody here has done similar and what they'd recommend doing.

Failing that, roughly what would an upholsterer charge to repair something like this?

Any ideas?

I've since been quoted £70 by an upholsterer, which is good but a good DIY job is always more satisfying smile

Thanks, do I then need to fill the top so that the split can't be seen?

Once patched with a bit of luck the split will be unnoticeable. Not sure how you could fill a thing like that. If you're keeping the car eventually budget for a new hood, probably less £'sss than you think.

If your ever brave enough to venture into wales/Swansea. There is a chap who makes handmade hoods to order for a VERY reasonably charge. Google Jack Smiths Motor Trimmers.

He did a very good job on my S2000 for £280 this includes fitting.

I believe he does all makes.

There is a rubber-like material for filling the gap left after a patch.

Just search 'vinyl repair' on Amazon or EBay.
