So recently my car has started squeaking on start up from cold, and also it squeaks when under strain within the first few minutes of driving. I have to drive up a ramp to get out of my car park, and when releasing the clutch to go up the ramp it will chirrup repeatedly, rather than just the once you can hear in the video. (It sometimes also does this when the clutch is fully released in the first few minutes, such as taking a side road in 2nd gear)

Car is a 2005 2.7 manual boxster 987, about 68,000 miles on it.

Video... http://sendvid.com/cnd4p409

You can hear it on the video attached, it squeaks when the engine comes on, and also as I reverse.

I did mention it to my local indy when the car was in, who replaced the drive belt, but it still made the chirp on startup, so they didn't feel this was the cause. I also asked them to check the clutch, but they said when they were driving it the clutch felt fine, so don't think they investigated that any further.

They guessed that it may be due to the starter motor Bendix sticking. (I'm not entirely sure what this is). Has anyone else experienced this, or could suggest a likely cause?

It doesn't have a starter motor bendix, it uses a pre-engaged starter!

Hard to really pick it out in the video, does it do it if just left to idle? Does it get worse when hot, or when cold? It's very hard to diagnose things like this over the internet without a bit more detail..

Are you sure? It's slightly concerning if what you're saying is true, as you'd expect a well-known indy to know this if it is the case.

It doesn't make the squeak if left to idle, and only does it from cold, in the first 2-3 minutes of driving, and only when accelerator is being pressed.

Some people on another forum have suggested that a loose spark plug can cause it.

1000% - a starter 'bendix' refers to the inertia engaged gear of the starter on older cars..

I'd be wondering about the belt tensioner pulley.

I'd agree, any of the three tensioner pulley bearings when dry might well chirrup and squeak like this.
