I know this is a personal preference, but wondered what people think of upgrading from their existing front and rear bumpers on a MY2006 to the V12 standard ? I think this is an enhancement and am considering this upgrade over the spring/summertime when the cars out of hibernation. I know you can get a kit for about £3k plus paint and fitting.

Not an expert in such, but i'd be surprised if V12 kit would bolt straight onto a 2006MY car.

Plus I assume you accept that this "upgrade" won't be worth a penny if you try and sell, in fact it may even hinder a sale as some people would be very funny about a car that's been messed about with (for want of a better term).

Of course your car and you do what you want but as above, from point of view its the sort of car that doesnt really warrant this type of change.
Adding the V8S skirts/spoilers is acceptable as it comes with it. But to add V12 enhancements to a V8 just doesnt seem right. I considered a V12 gearstick in mine but then a few said the smaller V8 one was easier to manipulate!
A suppose a rule of thumb, if its not in the AM catalogue then dont do it??

The V8S bumpers are identical to the V12 bumpers
To swap them need new wheel arch liners as well
A few have done it

Yep Nick beat me to it hehe
Adams car is actually the face lift V8 bumpers with a CF wrap rather than the versions on the V8S & V12
Looks great in the flesh bow

Adam's car is simply one of the most stunning out there even if it lacks a few cylinders biglaugh

Thanks guys. I plan on keeping all the original parts, so they can be swapped back IF IF I ever think of selling. I've already got the V12 side sills and clear rear lights.

Of course I'd love a real V12, but my pockets aren't that deep :-(

As others have quite rightly said, it's your car so do whatever the hell you want. As you say you can revert it should you ever need to, so crack on.......and post pics thumbup

To each their own. I personally think the original design is better. Like early 3.8 E-Type compared with...V12 E-type.

I usually prefer originality and just the model options of the period.

However, recently on here there was a topic about a V8V 4.3, altered to look like a V12V. It even had the V12V bonnet, wheels and tailgate etc. I was quite surprised, that I did quite like the appearance in the photograph.

The alterations probably cost a considerable amount, and the owner said the tailgate could not be opened properly, but hey ho.

It might be just as well, but I cannot remember what the V12 owners said at the time.

As Mikey says, these are the plastic (AM call it "RIM" eek) splitter and diffuser from the MY12 (?) model which mimic the Vantage S / V12V bits but are not in shiny Carbon Fibre.

I had the work done (including being wrapped in matt CF by the Mercedes F1 team... ...long story) as part of the deal when I bought the car from Nicholas Mee.

I also like the original look, but this is my third V8V and I fancied something a little different. I looked long and hard for a manual Vantage S, but getting an interesting colour was more important for me, so when this Hardly Green MY2010.5 model came up for sale, I decided to give it the 'S' look instead.

Word of warning - it's a LOT bigger job than just the bumpers. As Mr K says, it's also arch liners, but also undertrays and, if you have them, a new wiring loom for the rear parking sensors. You even need new lights for above the rear number plate!

I would be really surprised if a CF kit became available for £3k but, if so, go for it! The parts and labour on mine (non-CF, don't forget..) was £6k+...

Your car looks fabulous !! I believe the plastic version full kit is about £2.8k and the carbon £4.4k, so quite a jump between the 2. Would prefer carbon, but budget doesn't allow. Give me something to do over the summer (Or more the garage something to do......)

Let them do the work over the winter not the summer when you want to be out driving.

PS As Ed50 would say have you got your name down for Burghley, sticky at the top of the page. good venue to show off your Vantage after you have had the work done.

I'd love to go to Burghley, but due to my circumstances (My kids weekend) I wont be able to attend.

Even if I could take my kids, my Vantage could only take 1 child....

Ive done a couple of these swaps, for race cars it was a 2010 upgrade option. Apart from the obvious bumpers being different you need new wheel arch liners (though I modified the old rears as it didnt matter on the racer), front undertray and brackets for the exhaust finishers. Though if you go for the later high downforce with more aero, the V12 tailgate swaps back to a V8 with a wing.
