Do we think there's any truth in the 'iPhone 7 prototype' video doing the rounds (the one with the expanding screen)?

On the one hand it seems implausible. On the other, I'm SO having one if it's true! biggrin

There is no truth in it whatsoever. It's a fan-made concept video.

Dammit - thought it probably was. It's very well done though.

Ha, you clearly haven't seen the video! biggrin

Meanwhile, back in the real world I've just updated my secondhand iPhone 4 to an equally secondhand iPhone 5 for the princely sum of £150, so I don't think I'm quite living the marketing man's dream..!

Don't be silly. It's like that projected keyboard that made the rounds a couple of years ago

For a couple of years I've been telling people that the next big development in mobile phone tech needs to be an expanding screen. Although I've no idea how you'd make it work.

Can't help but think the next big thing in mobile phone tech needs to a battery that can last all day without needing to be charged or dropping enough in capacity that you're scared to use the phone for fear of running out.

iPhone 6s Plus lasts me all day and I am a seriously heavy user.

I worked for a company many years ago producing silicon semiconductors for R&D, one of our development products in collaboration with a Phillips spin off was a bendable display (11-12 years ago) the idea was exactly like that shown and there was a prototype shown at 1 tech show in Vegas I believe.

Technology development is often 20 years so we're just over half way there to seeing it in our hands.

That's pretty encouraging. Tempted to get a 7 when it comes out and try an iPhone.

The plus models have the larger battery over the standard phone.

They could do it right now quite easily. The problem is that all the phone manufacturers have got it in to their heads that thinner = better.

An awful lot of the bigger phones like the 6+/6S+, Oneplus One/Two, Galaxy S6+/S7 Edge have decent battery life, I think the manufactures need to try and apply that to the smaller phones now.

Like yourself, I'd gladly have a phone that's a few mm thicker and with a far better battery life.

The Sony Z3 Compact has superb battery life. I never charge my phone everyday - it always lasts 2 if not 3 days.

the last few releases prove that the 'leaks' and rumours are always wrong. That said, I might get one.
