991 GTS Must haves
Discussion
It's a great car and wants for little. I also came from a F10 to a new 991 GTS and am still over the moon.
You've already gone for 2 of my must haves - GTS interior and PDK. The sports exhaust is standard.
The following are just nice to haves but I love them:
Sports steering wheel in alcantara - looks and feels so cool (avoid MF wheel).
PDLS+ in black. Expensive option but in the dark, it's better than any other lighting system - I'm so glad I ticked that box.
Heated seats - because I'm a softie
18 way or 4 way seats (I went with 18), both have same seat shape. I couldn't get comfy in 14 ways which seem to be made for people of excess weight.

Thank for the replies guys. Love that red! What was the price of these new with a few must have options? Were dealers offering decent discounts when ordered new?
£95k to £100k with a few boxes ticked from memory although I got over £100k with the spec I wanted....could easily get close to £110k if you weren't careful. I spent a lot of time agonising over spec and ended up deciding on Black and Orange as my theme. Outrageous exterior and toned down interior (I am not an Alcantera fan). I love the car and it gets loads of compliments. In hindsight my only tweak might have been to add Carbon brakes. No way can you spec something decent for £100k...
The Duck Tail is epic looking and I too have been shocked by the lack of depreciation of GTS cars - had someone offer to buy my car when I was out in it one day...

I'm on my second gts. got one march 15 and swapped it a couple of weeks ago for another. did 16k miles in the last, done 2 k miles already in this one. first one had regular pasm, new one has sports pasm. the new one is much better controlled when being enthusiastic and feels like a sports car for more of the time. old car had 4 way seats and the new one has the 18 way. the old seats set a little lower. old car was manual, new one is pdk. old car had ceramics, new one has steels. steels feel better but the ride is jiggly and the wheels feel heavy. would prefer ceramics. old car had panoramic roof and that ruined the whole car. Thats the sole reason why I got rid of that car, new car has steel roof and is sooo much better.

ooh interesting post. Some questions if you would. I was specifically looking for a glass roof car because I felt it would brighten up the whole cabin and would create a nicer environment for when kids are in the backWhy did you think it ruined the car?
Which do you prefer, manual or PDK and why?
Can you really feel a difference in the weight of the wheels? Is this not a placebo? Are they jiggly just because of the brakes or is it also down to the SPASM?
I generally buy manual, I have several porsches and they are all manual. I am giving pdk 'a try' although I don't really want to like it. But I have to accept that it is a very good gearbox. I find myself in auto with all modes quiet while just knocking around town and in manual and sport mode (not sport plus) when I'm on free er roads. It is a very good 'box, but not as involving as a manual. I find myself driving much harder with the pdk than I would in a manual because it's so easy to keep the revs singing and so easy to brake really deep and still get the down changes in.
I can feel the weight of the steel discs on rutted and broken and patched urban roads at urban speeds. The wheels can't react fast enough. Once up to pace on open rural roads the difference is hardly noticeable. in other words the steels have a detrimental effect on fast bump in comparison to the ceramics.
That bloody panoramic roof pissed me right off. Yes it makes the cabin light and airy and the rhodium silver car with the black roof and black wheels looked ace and yes I could open the roof or just tilt it to let some air and noise in. BUT BUT BUT BUT it ruins the car. So the glass doesn't crack or break under stress, Porsche build the car using a bond between glass roof and metal side that has some 'give' so that stresses and movement is not transferred to the glass. So the car ends up with a soft and squidgy bodyshell. The body had more twist in it than my old Boxster S !! My current Boxster is far more stiff (body shell) than the 991 with glass roof. My new gts with metal roof feels as rock solid and well built as you'd expect a porsche to be.

Interesting about your sunroof comment. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Most of the cars currently for sale have the sunroof.
That is very interesting but I doubt there are many people that have owned more than one GTS and of those I suspect if you wanted the roof the first time a lot would have it the second time. SAG6Y said:

And owners without the sunroof are happy to keep their cars. Perhaps.Whether you can live with a sunroof, convertible or not, only you'll know.
Personally, I don't read a lot in the car so don't need the light from the glass roof, and in any event, I question why the whole roof is covered in glass when it's only the aperture panel that lets daylight through. I think that huge glass covering spoils the look of the car unless the car is black.
It's very subjective. Good job there's lots of options to satisfy all. I went for sunroof delete and loads of deviating stitching and love it although I know many could care less.
