Good point above. What's with porsche and the centre-locks fading? Just down to strong wheel cleaner? Mine started to turn and really frustrating
Yes they go milky in a lot of cases. I'm not 100% sure but I think its down to wheel cleaner.I saw a GT3 RS at Tewksbury OPC with 300 miles on the clock and the centre locks were completely faded to a grey milky colour.
The GTS i have just bought which has done 10k miles and is a year old, are like new with no fading.
As a result, I think it must be down to what chemicals are used to clean the car / wheels? Apparently Porsche are very reluctant to change them under warranty and they are about £1300 a set to buy.
I've been told that they're anodised black and that until Porsche do something to change the way that they are made, its an issue thats not currently easily remedied.

Almost definitely wheel cleaner...especially if the car has ever been cleaned at one of the drive through places. Most of them apparently use some ridiculously strong chemicals designed for cleaning lorises. Was told that by an alloy refurb firm...I saw a GT3 RS at Tewksbury OPC with 300 miles on the clock and the centre locks were completely faded to a grey milky colour.

I suspect you mean £1300 a corner rather than a set?!?!

No £1300 per set. The grease used is also about 70 quid a tube so you can add that on too...I suspect you mean £1300 a corner rather than a set?!?!

Nice Carmine one has just been added to the locator but at 98k.... http://locator.porsche.com/ipl-customer/ipl/detail...

Maybe £1k too high but the they seem to be selling at OPC's well if the spec is good which this also looks like a solid spec.
A 17k mile one sold at Bristol in 1 day with a nice spec at 95k. Cars without GTS pack do seem to hang about a bit longer but seem to also sell.I reckon a few on the locator will be sold or will have deposits on them. They dont remove them until full payment has been made.
Blue car at Newcastle coming on soon as well I think. 5k miles nice spec with ducktail but without GTS pack as per can on page 8 of this thread.
Nice car...

Although it's older this new one seems good too (I don't mind red with blue):

Test driving the 570GT this morning.
Hi Chris. From looks alone, its a winner over the 911 Turbo/s. I'd be really interested to see how you think it drives. Not sure if McLaren discount, but the lead-time should be better than a current order on a Turbo S. Have fun!Basically my impression was of a very expensive Lotus Evora. Others may differ but seeing as this is PH I expect to be linched.
Personally, I think I would prefer a new 991 Turbo S. A GT3RS would certainly be a much better car in terms of usability and finish. It also made me realise what a great car the 991 GTS is........

Tuffer - thanks for what seems a very honest review. How did you feel about the (what I can assume to be) special feel of a non 991 standard look - make sense? Doors and jazz cool?
I do agree with all round Gts appeal of course but have thought about car you test drove
If you mean the scissor doors and can forward stance, yeah it looks and feels special. But only if it's a once a week car, I like to use my car. For instance, Thursday I was working from home, Sun was out so I jumped in my car and drove a 60 mile round trip to a little village that has a great Fishmongers, bought my dinner. That trip would have been a real chore in the Mc. Narrow lanes, reversing, badly sighted junctions, on road parking. The performance is bonkers but nearly unusable. The GTS is bad enough, a Turbo S is insane. It they are still very usuable, the McLaren just seemed to be lost somewhere between a track car and piece of jewellery,. I have driven 458's, Gallardos, Huracans and Vantages, none left me cold like this. Don't get me wrong, they have issues, but they also have massive redeeming features.......I cannot think of one for the 570. A nice honest review and certainly wasn't what I expected to read. The car looks lovely so I'm rather gutted to hear it's not potentially as good as it looks. We are spoilt with our Porsches. It also needs a smaller number plate IMO as it is ruining the look of the front.
I know they are fast but a shame if its all or nothing in Performance and rather anodyne. Out of interest, have you driven the Turbo S yet as some folk seem to think that's too quick for our roads as well.
I saw an identical looking car in Ascot and the seat leather was baggy as well. It was brand new and they said it was waiting customer collection so I couldn't sit in it.
Have you looked at the 650S? Quite different inside. The one I sat in was full alcantara which is much nicer than the McLaren leather. Mind you, even quicker that the 570 so maybe not going to tick your boxes unless it's got more character.

The slightly narrower winter version is £5,134 with rubber, per set (can't find the larger summer wheel on Porsche's site at the moment but I guess it's be around the same price if not more). That's probably £4k without rubber, per set, i.e. £1k per corner. If a dealer is selling a new set for £1,300, I'd certainly take a set or two.
I think there was some confusion here. The 1300 quid is for a set of centerlocks themselves not complete wheels. I was told by opc Tewksbury.
