Interesting. Do u also have 991 Gts?
I would be keen to try new turbo but would only be if I can keep a na engine at same time be it current 991 Gts or swap for Boxster Gts etc. But not in financial situation or wife justification right now to do it. That said I've not driven new turbo so can't comment. I also specked my Gts too high to sell right now - yes even went burmester.
While keen for more low down power I think I'd miss the high end screaming engine sound
I agree with John above that the turbo car has significant shove but to me when i had an S for a weekend in PDK form, with auto changing of gears and the very noticeable turbo lag, it felt lazy.I would be keen to try new turbo but would only be if I can keep a na engine at same time be it current 991 Gts or swap for Boxster Gts etc. But not in financial situation or wife justification right now to do it. A manual version might be a different story but keeping the revs up is needed for better response - typical turbo driving which I don't like.
Also there is a lot of whistle from the turbos and loads of popping and banging but it didn't sounds a patch on the GTS.
The sports exhaust is there to give pops and bangs but i can't see what else it does. Some may like it but turbo's have ruined the 911 for me.
The targa i drove was the lower 370hp pdk version and not the 420hp s ;i've got a vague memory of an article i've read in the last 12mths where they mention the C2 has less lag than the C2s.This is plausible taking into account that they both have identical engines but the C2s has bigger turbos(takes longer to spool up) and higher boost(1.2bar vs 0.9bar).
I have never driven a 991.1 gts so i can't compare but i was pleasantly surprised by the 991.2 targa pdk bearing in mind an undernourished sounding 230PS DIN/tonne unladen.
Also it was the 370hp version that the salesman was recommending which surprised me!.

I've just bought my second 991.1 GTS. I really missed it as an everyday car, should never have sold my first one but unfortunately I had to at the time. I contemplated waiting for the 991.2 GTS in April but I just don't like turbo cars. I drove a base gen 2 car but the engine was not to my taste. Blast of power when you floor it after lag and then no top end. Last car was sapphire and this one is Rhodium. Looking forward to picking her up!
As I posted before, after several extended test drives the Turbo car just left me cold. After 3 911s and then a gap without one for a few years I just felt they didn't feel like a 911 to me. As soon as I turned the key in a GTS I could tell it was going to be for me and the drive sealed it. It's just so much more exciting to drive. When you add the fact it has rear seats so we can use it as a family, I just can't see what I'll ever replace it with now all the cars are turbo so at the moment it's staying firmly where it is!!

I don't think so as i was mightly impressed with the 991.2 targa 4 PDK i testdrove on wednesday despite my prior biased misgivings. The torquey 370hp engine seemed to shrug off the 1600+kg plus us four up with nonchalent ease.I'm now considering changing my limited use GT4 for a 991.2C2S manual in either brash lava orange or more likely safe but classy GT silver and save myself £1000 in the bargain.
ps sports exhaust is essential imo.
I've heard that too so perhaps the standard car is a better drive. The 991.2 S was very laggy and it was out of puff at about 6500 revs. A manual car would be better as well as with pdk it was literally seconds before it had found the right gear, dealt with the turbo lag and found some surge. A completely different charachter altogether. ps sports exhaust is essential imo.

Its a review of a manual Carrera S but in the last couple of mins he suggests the base Carrera may be the better car as its "the least turbocharged"...kind of makes sense. Maybe it means the base Carrera or the Turbo are the cars to have in 991.2. I really think the 991.2 GTS will be a bit of an odd car....especially as a Carrera 4 it will make no sense.
You would be much better buying a second hand 991.1 Turbo than a 991.2 Carrera 4 GTS. Both four wheel drive and turbocharged except one does it better.

I agree but £105k for a 2 year old car? I mean come on, I love the GTS but £105k? However, if they would accept £95k I might be tempted......Phooey said:
Very nice. Prices rose slightly this year compared to 2015. They could go up again. My car was sold in Aug 2015 for 87k.

Can't blame them for trying.. easier to reduce than increase. I could see that car selling at 100/105k purely because it's a very rare and sought after spec. FWIW I thought the 4wd drove better than the 2 :-0findtomdotcom said:

My ideal exterior spec. What would make it perfect was if it has carbon folding buckets and manual.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
