The GTS is going no where! Its either a 997.2 GT3 to go with it or a new 991.2 GT3 next year which isn't under my control!
nice one. Either would be an amazing addition.

After such positive talk around the Gts on this thread I'd be interested to hear if anyone has sold and moved on from this car and if so what to. A few more for sale now

Certainly not me. No plans at all to change and wouldn't even know what to change too. Enjoying the GTS far too much to even think about it.

Hi there. I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a 991.1 C2S Coupe (PDK) and have a budget of circa £60-70k. I'm really struggling to find a car with a decent specification so have started considering GTSs too, which seem to be better specified, are obtainable for about £20k more and are prided as one of the last great NA Porsches.

As there are quite a few GTS owners here who have also owned other Pork, may I ask your thoughts on how you'd proceed if you were in my shoes? This will be my first proper Porsche and I'm coming out of a Vantage SP10. I'm looking to own for about 6 months and do about 6,000 miles including 2 trips into Europe, one on winters.

Could spending an additional £20k make for a lower overall depreciation? I was budgeting for a £5k loss over 6 months of ownership (buying and selling privately), but judging by some of the posts made on this thread earlier in the year, it seems the GTSs are holding their values very firmly, and might mean less depreciation... even once I factor in buying at retail and selling at trade.

Hmm... Further justifiable attractions are the more 'special' feel of the GTS interior, the widebody exterior, the fact they are generally 12-18 months younger than the non-GTSs I'm looking at and the additional 30hp would be very welcome too.

... bugger, think I've just answered my own question.

I think definitely go with the GTS. The residuals will be stronger than the S. Plus it's a great looking car.

Go for it... life's too short to worry whether a 70k or 90k car is going to depreciate more. In reality I doubt the difference will be all that so you may as well have the better car if you can afford the money tied up in the vehicle.

Still absolutely loving the GTS. I've had Boxster S, 996 4S, 997.1 S, 997.2 GT3 previously (along with things like M3s) and the GTS is my favourite out of all of them.

If you get one I would try to get one with the GTS interior pack. My favourite option is the -20mm spasm, gives the car a real tyre in the arches mean stance and the handling is incredible without any reduction in ride quality (or so little I couldn't notice).

I'd definitely go with the GTS interior pack, judging by the amount of people on this thread that have posted it a "must have" when looking for cars it will help minimise ownership costs....and it looks great.

Thanks all!

Firstly, this wasn't a "I'm a Porsche value speculator" post, although I appreciate it may have sounded like it. Far too many of those Porsche owners already! wink

Ultimately, I just reached the conclusion than the £90k option might end up costing the same to run as the £70k "cooking" option I was looking to pull the trigger on, and so should be considered... and would be a lot more fun / special along the way!

Two quick questions for the aficionados:

1) I'm primarily looking at cars with either the Sportdesign Ducktail or the ducktail + Aero Kit Cup spoiler. My fairly astute eyes have noticed that in most cases this means that there is no 'spoiler lift override' button at the top of the centre console RHS button stack. However, a few cars out there have the spoiler(s) but still have this button... can I assume this is a tale-tale sign that the spoiler(s) were added retrospectively and that they weren't originally specified from the factory?

2) Does anyone know if the OEM Porsche roof cross bars / mounting system is compatible with either the glass or non-glass sunroofs? Or do they only attach on cars without the sunroof? I quite like the idea of a sunroof (despite the issue raised a few dozen pages ago on here) although I 100% need to have the ability to fit cross bars so would need to avoid sunroof'd cars if this gets in the way.

Many thanks once again. Had a feeling that would become an expensive post...

And yes, GTS interior package firmly up there on my current 'must haves' list. Thanks to all who have already suggested it!

In case any sellers are lurking, here's what Im looking for:

Colour: First choice: Agate. Would consider: Black or White
Interior: GTS package + CF trim
Other: MUST be 1 owner from new and have cruise control. WOULD LIKE: ducktail or aerokit, Heated Seats, folding mirrors, Sports Exhaust System, centre locks, Sport Chrono, Bose or higher, less than 15,000 miles

... i imagine the sports exhuast and Sport Chrono are standard on the GTS?

Hi Aok, I have had a lot of cars over the past 20 years and I have to say that the GTS could possibly be a very long term keeper as I'll add an additional car next year to get my kicks instead of replacing it.
Its just so right as a road car, looks fab and is loud with a real firmness to the suspension over the 'S' variant which makes it a more focused but usable road car, you'll love it. I also love the fact that its the last of the N/A era. The turbos just sound dull in comparison IMO.

The Chrono and Sports Exhaust are standard and yes, if you've noticed a car with a ducktail and the button then its possible its been retrofitted aftermarket, nothing wrong with that.
Some dealers who had a car to sell without GTS interior pack when I was looking used the old 'we told our customers to spec without leather as its more of a GT car'. I don know why they'd do this as the GTS pack was expensive and a nice addition to the costs price of a car to a dealer. However, I didn't spec full leather in my Cayenne and its never bothered me. I think if you find a nice car thats been looked after then that's a more important consideration than leather although the leather is nice to have, admittedly.

I have a roof but I'm not too sure about the roof bar question, a dealer will be able to offer advise on that one for you. The GTS was very well optioned from the outset so you don't need much. I don't see that more expensive lights being of significance as they standard ones are PDLS anyway. Heated seats, obviously PCM and a roof are nice additions. Personally I don't like the body colour painted rear bumper section or the painted sills but thats a personal preference. I'm the third owner of my car, you'll find that Porsches and generally expensive toys change hands a lot especially in the early stages so I don't see a really need to have a 1 owner car.

This looks nice, you have a bit go choice at the moment which is unusual so now is the time to pull the trigger on something http://locator.porsche.com/ipl-customer/ipl/detail...

Wish list looks great. Like Fokker said I wouldn't be too focused on a 1 owner car. Having more than 1 owner on a 911 is common.

Wouldn't get too hung up on 1 owner. There's not a lot of them for sale at anyone time so most important is the colour, spec, mileage and general condition. I was looking for a car for a few months and saw several before finding 'the one'. A lot of these type of cars have more than one owner for no other reason than some people just change cars very regularly so a perfect car can still have had 2 owners in 18 months or so. More important is who the previous owners are and to make sure you know the history of the car as much as possible.

Also, folding mirrors won't be an easy one either as most people opted for the sport design ones that don't fold.

Ironically I changed my folding mirrors to the sport design ones. Have kept all parts so can be reversed again if need be in the future.

Too true. The non-folding Sport Design mirrors are part and parcel of the GTS variant and look so much better than the standard folding type. People are paying top dollar to retro-fit the Sport mirrors: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU991MIRROR....

Say 'no' to folding mirrors on a GTS!
