Thanks, Dave - the Bolton car does look very good and I may give Dan a call if I can get over my desire for a manual. Wonder how much bargaining room there is with GTSs at present...I would want to get the ducktail retrofitted, what do people think of my chances of haggling for a discount on that as part of a deal?
Dan is a good guy, very approachable and will do a deal with you. I've bought and sold cars through him and he's great.
I can't see an issue with getting a ducktail thrown in if paying ticket price.

there will be some movement I am sure.

Cameron have got a decentish spec white car up for under £90k and it does look like there are quite a few cars around. Trade bids must be mid 80's tops I reckon for a good spec car.
The white Cameron car is odd. Its been painted in areas that you wouldn't normally paint! I think thats why its hanging about plus people I would think quite often, when spending 90k want a 2 year Porsche warranty.

Just been for a quick blast and after stepping out and looking back at it, I have decided that I am never selling it!!

I never fell in love with the GT4 like I have with the 991 GTS, maybe it the shape, the fat arse and definitely the noise, the pops, crackles and howl are addictive....

I think this car previously had been flagged here as having dodgy paintwork. Think it had decals too. Deffo summat fishy.

Yes I know, that escalated quickly! Realised I can't be too picky and this (almost perfect) one came up on Monday so had to move fast. I'm absolutely over the moon though, what a car. Completely see what all the fuss is about now. If you're pondering whether to get one, seriously... just do it!

Bit of feedback btw if anyone is in doubt of where the market is heading, there's a lot less cars actually available than it seems on AutoTrader... Many of the ones I've enquired on are either already sold or have deposits in place (in particular the lovely black and grey examples listed with the indys). I get the feeling they just keep the adverts up to engage enquiries and try convert to something else. Or to attract sellers. Only spoke to the one OPC, who said they can't get them in fast enough. They said they don't necessarily see them going up in value, but feel the prices will remain pretty firm. Guess in the current market I'm a good example of why... paying £70s for a 14/64 plate C2S (when you can pay £90s for a 15/65 plate GTS) is just ludicrous.

Anyway, many thanks for the assistance. I did read every word, sorry didn't get back to each post. Now time to fit winters and take it skiing!

If you've still got it in March you should come along to the RS day at Oulton, would be nice to catch up and take a look at the GTS. No places on track but you could always get on the reserve list if you want to really see what it will do. wink

Thanks all. Very kind. Cheib, I think this is the spec although might be missing a few of the smaller bits and bobs:

Carrera GTS PDK
Agate Grey
1 owner <-- this was critical, don't ask!
65 plate
Paid early £90s and some tequipment thrown in

GTS interior pack with alcantara and red stitching
Alcantara sportdesign steering wheel
CF interior trim
Red dials
Tinted rear and and rear side windows
LED headlights in black
Clear rear lights
Heated seats
Glass sliding sunroof
Centre locks in black
Cruise control
Mobile phone, PCM etc
PDC front and rear
Reversing camera
Floor mats

Until this morning for some reason I though the car was black, as have been looking at so many. So was absolutely over the moon when I realised it is Agate, which was my first choice from the outset.

The only 2 things I didn't get which I wanted were:

Bose ... its only got the standard system. I was really worried about this as I like my music, but actually having tweaked the fade, treble, loudness and base just so, it sounds more than acceptable.
Aerokit / Ducktail ... this was really quite high up on the wishlist for me. As the rest of the spec was pretty much spot on, the idea was to get them to retrofit the ducktail later on at a pre-agreed price, but actually having now seen it with the slender rear profile, I don't think I'm going to bother. The option is there, I'll see how I feel and whether my opinion on this changes.

Impressions? Over the first 250 miles here are some scattered observations from a 911 noob:

The LED headlights are phenomenal. So pleased it has them. The ride is just right for me so I'm not bothered about the lack of SPASM. Very impressed with how intuitive all the controls and interfaces are... I'd cracked the information dial within a few minutes, although I set the wiper off a few times reaching for the wrong stalk when changing the song! Very surprised with how small the car is overall. Its narrower than most cars I've had in my garage, I thought it would be one of the widest. So absolutely no need for the folding mirrors... and as someone rightly said, the SportDesign ones look great. The sunroof is a nice touch, but I must see if I can remove a fuse or something to avoid accidentally opening it once I've fitted my roof bars. Very impressed with the grip but haven't pushed too hard yet. First time driving a fast-ish 911 and it wasn't exactly sticky out there today. And electric steering? Much better than I thought it would be. Quite weighty actually. Read so many complaints about vagueness over the years but seriously, it feels like hydraulic in comparison to the BMW, Jag and Merc electric units. The PDK, when left to its own devices in auto mode seems so intuitive and seems to know exactly what you're after. Manual mode is what I expected, very sharp and fast. The actual paddles themselves aren't quite as crisp as I would have thought they would be... about 2/3mm of sponge before they engage. Quite a bit of road noise from the tyres, but thats only going to get worse once I'm on the winters. Finally, the engine... is a peach. I really understand now why everyone was so protective over this lump when they announced the move over to forced induction. It begs to be revved which really provides the sort of driver involvement that turbocharged competitors simply can't offer. Quite similar in that sense to the Vantage V8 S which I really had to grab by the scuff of the neck for it to sing. Same sort of naturally aspirated feel here. They are both 430hp but the Porsche does feel quite a bit faster once above 6,000 rpm... with the Aston sadly you really felt the weight. But I guess they aren't supposed to be competitors. Oh... the crackles and pops when in sports plus mode! A very welcome surprise!

Most of these observations are not GTS-specific, and probably apply to most 3.8 991s. But I thought you'd be interested to hear that these are what stood out to a total 911 noob.

Looking forward to getting to know it, seeing how it handles a long trip round Europe and how it reveals itself on track once I'm comfortable with it.

Anyone still alive? Cheers.

Congratulations! I'm guessing this was the Tewkesbury OPC car - saw this on autotrader on the way to work this am and thought of you in this thread!

Regarding the PDLS, do you see big benefits in power terms or the curve-following bits as well? I had a 991.2 for a week over the summer and was slightly underwhelmed by the bi-xenons.

I hadn't noticed the mileage....agree. I am quite surprised at how many are for sale at the moment given these are daily drivers I wouldn't have expected so many to have been seemingly put up for sale now its winter. Shrewd buyer could get themselves a deal.

A month ago I know an OPC sold a high spec car for £106k without it being advertised....seems full money right now.
Jeez, this makes me feel rather smug for picking up a decent spec 8k miles car for £90k from an OPC a month ago.
Sad story behind that car. It was originally the OPC's showroom car and had a ridiculous spec...£115k new I think. Bloke who bought it from them as new sadly died recently so the car came back to them at the end of October with a low mileage on it and sold before it actually got back to the dealership.
