Agreed - without kids you have much more options; an R8 is quite compelling
With kids you are limited to GTS, 911 turbo and FF

Given AMG is slightly softer, surprised they have ever offered a +2

Porsche is given free rein in this space which is crazy given in every other niche, and sub-niche, all the big boys are fighting each other...

Is the Amg softer? I drove 3 different ones,my main issue was the ride is abysmal ,even in comfort.

But yes if you want a 2+2 coupe there is not much competition .

I struggle to think about what else can compete with the GTS at £110K given its great ability.

AMG GT is a good option but F Type isn't even a patch on the 911. I also assume the SVR would be a nightmare with depreciation.....
I'm with you on the Jag, looks ok and sounds good but the interior is in another league of terrible and that goes for the whole range of cars they produce.
I appreciate that they dont have the budgets of their German rivals but the design for me is also bad the steering wheels? What going on there?!

So this thread is full of first gen 991 gts as am I and love our cars for reasons stated before.

I'd be interested to hear from those who decide to buy and gen 2 turbo gts while turning down a used gen 1.

Is it the new car thing?

I love cars and always look to move on but when think about next steps I get stuck

I've had a 991 3.8 GTS, followed by a 991 GT3 RS, and have now ordered a 991.2 3.0 GTS. I've driven a 991.2 C2S, and liked the power delivery. Ok, it doesn't have the noise at the top end of a 3.8 with a powerkit, but the nature of the power delivery, the way it accelerates, and the various noises it makes through the rev range is superb. RWS is also a great option which makes the car feel more nimble. Turbocharging is here to stay, so you may as well embrace it..!

I'm about to order a 991.2 GTS, I'm trading in my BGTS and it will be my first 911.

If the GTS wasn't available I'd get a Carrera S with the powerkit which effectively gives it GTS power. It's partly the new car 'thing' but also because it's easier to access power and more of it, plus other improvements that have been made in the newer model. The engine noise isn't everything to me (and the 991.2 isn't bad at all anyway) - how the car drives is what's important.

Had an email from my OPC offering me a test drive in their PTS demonstrator when they get it....conveniently my car will be in for a service around that time so I am going to book a day in it. Never driven a 991.2 so seems like a good opportunity!

Will be interesting to see how you feel it performs if you have a 997 GTS.

I drove a Miami 991.2 4S and I personally found it completely underwhelming - unfortunately the noise was a huge part of that.
The handling also felt more like a GT than that of a Sportscar, the damping felt softer even in sports plus and the steering just didn't feel as nice as a 991.1 (particularly a 991.1 GTS).
Throttle response was good, but still a noticeable difference from a NA car, and lacked the fun of the last 2-3k revs the NA units have.
Yes it makes the package more versatile and useable in terms of power - but at the loss of sound and feel!

991.2 is still a great car but I think it loses some of the sportscar edge a 997 and 991.1 have.

This was a "must have" for someone...advertised for £96k and sold within a coule of days. Spec is everything on these cars...as it seems to be on every Porsche makes a huge difference to price!

Sold by Top 555 within four days of days of being advertised for £96k...sure they may have discounted it by £6k but I doubt it. They advertised it on 2nd and sold on 6th according to their Twitter feed.

Correct sir, In demand car, fantastic condition, low miles/high spec which are hard to come by - should have been listed as sold same day but chap had to come and test drive it first before we listed it as sold!

I hadnt driven a 4GTS before but I thought it was a 'really quick car' and Ive been out in a 991 RS which to this day I think is absolutely rediculous on a tight b road!

That car was sold with absolutely no discount - why would we? In demand car, fantastic condition, low miles/high spec which are hard to come by - should have been listed as sold same day but chap had to come and test drive it first before we listed it as sold!

I said you "may have" discounted it...and actually said I doubted you would....so there's absolutely no need for the "why would we" comment. With all due respect if you're trying to promote your business by joining PH I'd suggest you remember everyone else isn't a member for commercial gain...there are plenty of people who work in the car trade that do post on here but generally there attitude tends to be rather different to yours. And if you actually think about it my post was actually promoting your business....so why on earth would you come in with a "why would we" comment...this isn't a school playground.

So congratulations on your first two posts being a) probably a breach of PH rules as you appear to be trying to do business and b) your attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

Oh and my third point would be you should probably learn how to punctuate and spell if you're going to be representing your employer wink

What you could have said was something like

"Hi, I'm a new member and work for Top 555. Glad to report we sold the car for asking price within 24 hours"

Then everyone would think what a nice bloke you were. Oh well.

I think here is the point I back track... and apologise.

Sorry - was not my intention to come across as obtuse and confrontational but I obviously have.
I made the lack of judgement thinking you can read attitude/delivery of plain text, in reality it has come across in the wrong way

Back under the rock under which I have come from... need to find myself a dictionary it would seem... biggrin

Have edited my original post... think I need to re proof read more often -

I have also sent you a message/email to whatever your PH account is registered, I would appreciate if you could read that please. type

I think he must be the cleaner or the car washer... I can't see for the life of me why an actual member of the business would be so slap-dash as to write a comment like that on a forum like this!

He's deleted the post on this thread and another thread where he was offering a 991.1 GTS "he couldn't go public about" to members (which I assume if a breach of PH rules) and sent me an email last night asking me to delete my post. Denied.

I like the way this from takes no prisoners. A firm hand is needed now and again!
