. 991.1 GTS is a very safe place to put your money at the moment I think.
also, S&P. zzz. this unsustainable market is going to collapse when the markets finally turn. its not a coincidence that modern sports cars are suddenly investable and equities have been going up since 08.

Don't think anyones saying that. But compared to buying a lot of £100k cars which could lose literally £10ks of thousands in months it makes sense to buy cars that are holding their money. Also the fact that cars are changing, i.e. turbos and ultimately electric means that this is the last chance to buy an almost new NA car so that has its own appeal.

I don't think of cars as investments at all and fully expect to lose money on them.

Always nice if the value of your car stays high, on a couple of the other threads I have seen guys that have had a 997 GTS for 12 -28 months done miles and still got out of their cars depreciation free!!!
Not bad at all for some owners if you bought at the right time - or residual of your car not being too far off what you paid for it.
It's clear the market is favouring Naturally Aspirated Cars across the board, even with a bit of a softening with some of the higher end e.g. careera GT / 599 GTO etc

completely agree residuals are a factor when owning such cars, but they seem to be taking too much of the focus over more interesting things right now as the market is a little distorted I think most will agree

.1 GTS sounds pretty much as good as GT3 I think. Not saying as good as overall but sound wise it's 99% in my experience. The videos never do the sound justice to real life, it's louder, more of a howl that makes the hairs on your neck stand on end, the pops and bangs and the sound it makes in the last couple of k to red line with the Power kit are immense.
Coming from an owner, in that Autocar vid at 5 min 30 secs turn the sound up and that is about what you get which is a magnificent howl and together with everything else that makes these 991.1 GTS' so fantastic, will ensure that this car is admired for long time to come. I really can't see myself parting with mine unless I am offered a 991.2 GT3 and even then I would think about which bank to rob in order to be able to keep it. I have never felt this way about a car before. Christ, I must be in love!

agreed, a RWD manual with buckets & GTS interior makes the R look very expensive indeed

Sounds like we're in exactly the same place!. Would love a 991.2 GT3 and will try to get one but would not be sure I could let the GTS go so would try hard to keep both, it's made that much of an impression on me.

The only good thing is I used to get bored of cars pretty quick as there was always something new to have as the latest thing but now I don't want a turbo engine I haven't got that problem so it's probably saving me even more money!

Yes at the end of the day they are cars which could potentially lose a lot of money very quickly so the main thing is to buy what you want and enjoy when you can.

They are very special cars, you just don't know it until you drive one... :-)

I suspect once the new 991.2 GTS is out there it will be accepted in the same way as Turbo M cars have been, there will always be some purists, but I fully expect both the 991.1 & 991.2 GTS's to equally sort after, and hold strong money.

when you watch Youtube video of 991.1 CS2 v 991.2 CS2 side by side, the change of pace from the 991.2 is astonishing (Torque lower down?) expect the comparison to be similar for GTS, and I think this is what will make them sort after...

The 991.1 GTS has bundles of oomph from 1500 rpm. Its that that i would miss as much as anything - the instant response (and noise!)
The new owners will love the .2 because they know what they're buying and they'll not be too bothered by the sound or the response, if its torque you want then it will satisfy massively..

Just had a leap of faith yesterday and signed an order form and paid a deposit on a May 2017 build slot for a 991.2GTS coupe manual as a prelude for my upcoming 991.2GT3 which i'm expecting early next year.I'm trying my hardest to tap into my man-maths psyche to justify keeping my beloved guards GT4 as a stablemate but i suspect my bank manager and accountant will convince me the error of my ways!.
Anyway the reason i succumbed to my temptations is the universal acclaim the 991.2GTS has been unundated with by all motoring hacks globally especially the lightest, simplest and cheapest version i.e manual,2wd coupe which i'm getting and the spec is as follows:

GT silver
Alcantara Carmine red GTS interior package
F/R parking s
Heated bucked seats
Alcantara sunvisors
Bose
Auto wipers/mirrors
Painted sidesills?
Alum fuel filler cap
Seat heating

Total £105,208.

Undecided on Pccb,s and Rws,comments welcome.

Congrats! Love the ducktail myself, wasn't sure until I saw the car i bought with it. makes the car look a bit different and adds to the wide body look I think. You'll love it!!
Have you got a photo of your car? Love a ducktail!

Oh and a friend of mine bought a Manual 991.1 GTS last week, not advertised. But paid over the £100k indicated GT silver less than 2k miles 65 reg. He missed out on allocation for an R so this was the next best thing for him. (he's bought 22 new porsches up until now, and still didn't get an R)

That's the Top 555 car that the sales bloke was trying to sell in this thread a week ago isn't it....he deleted that post pretty quickly though.

Does sound like a great car!
Just a hunch, but.................... maybe the 'Top 555' salesman & Mattf93 are the same person. Hence he knows what 'his friend' paid. But does his 'friend' know he is advertising all over here what he just spent on his new motor?

Looks a good spec. If it's just a stop gap then I'd prob skip pccb and rws.

It's weird but manual cars used to hang around for a while but lately a couple of cars have sold quickly. I'd still go PDK myself but get why people like manual.

Just out of interest how do you know you're definitely getting a 991.2 GT3?

Oops,it must have slipped out in my sheer excitement;).Honestly if you're in the top couple in your chosen OPC for GT3 allocation you would have been told by now!.

similar spec to mine, expect I had to get the PDK, and got tempted by the Bermester, but then its a much longer term car for me than you it sounds!

PCCBs don't think are worth getting unless for the unsprung mass savings, from what I have read (and not the expert on this) they are in no way required on the road and not particularly suited to hard track use. RWS steering again, I wanted the car to be a bit simpler (already PDK) and the fact Walter Rohrl dismissed it as a gimmick was enough to omit it.

Think its v exciting car, especially in 2WD format with its power and torque an unprecedented combination excluding GT cars and right up with the 991 GT3 in pace while being much more of an all rounder

Whats your buying history with the OPC (just to try and understand the way they allocate)?
I'm only kidding,i've been given an assurance that if my OPC gets a couple of GT3's one will have my name on it.I have bought a total of nine porsches from them including three new Cayennes,a new GT4 and have a new Panamera 4E hybrid coming in April.A fool and his money and all that!.

Haha, well you've bought quite a few there! I'm a little behind that but have bought quite a few in the past.

Good luck getting one!

Nice to see you and the family yesterday John. I saw you eyeing up my GTS in GT silver, great colour choice smile

You're a good customer there so i am not surprised that you're being looking after.
We should talk about it when you have some time to spare. I'll send you a PM through here with my details now.
