Hi all. I have been keeping a look out for a 991 GTS/1 with manual gearbox, but there doesn't seem to be any out there for sale. Anyone know where I could find one?
They are thin on the ground - think someone here said less than 10% were ordered with 3 pedals?

Have you tried the PDK though? When searching for mine I was reluctant at first (my previous sports cars had all been manual and I'm not usually a fan of automatics), but after about a day living with the PDK I decided that, on balance, it suits the car better than a manual transmission would have... especially once you start exploring the upper end of the rev range.

Plus 1 for that view and I was exactly the same. Occasionally miss the third pedal but in all honesty not very much.

Next car may still be manual for me though so don't shoot me down but as AOK says take a drive in one before you dismiss it.

Best emoji I can find. 😇 🍿🍿

Beware of falling into the depths of the Porsche confounderater!,You have to exercise self restraint and not treat it like the proverbial christmas box of chocolates sitting there innocently tempting you to open the box every five minutes.I should know as i've fallen into this trap many times and watched as my meagre bank balance is slowly but surely eroded.
I thought your first code was a wise one and nearly identical to mine except mine is GT silver.Imho you have chosen the most appealing and lightest variant at 1450kg (Targa 4GTS 1605kg) and the best colour bar none. The glass roof is a very popular option but is expensive, compromises torsional rigidity, raises Cog and is heavy with the additional bracing required.
The only small differences in mine is i have painted sills and alcantara sunvisors which are nice. The only option i'm still racking my brain over is the Rear axle steering which my salesguy doesn't like and he has driven it at Silverstone but I R Evans on here swears by it and he knows what he's talking about.
I'd go with what Iwan says John, His explanation seems spot on. We should all get together in mid wales one day for a blast!

Check out the one at JZM. Been for sale for a couple of weeks now but seems to have most of the must have options and looks great in white. Mattf93 at Top555 had one for sale but I think that one has gone now.

I'm amazed that hasn't been sold yet? Maybe it needs buckets to compliment the stick.
When searching for a manual, if its reg starts with an 'R' for Reading, there's a high possibility that it's an ex PEC car so be mindful as it'll have had a hard life.

It's missing the GTS interior pack and looks to be devoid of any deviating stitching or any interior enhancements.
Yeah these things don't make the car drive any better but most who are after a GTS was the whole GTS package - it's a must have.

I agree it is desirable. That has painted interior which is quite nice though to me at least and you can't be too choosy if you want a manual!

That does look like the GTS interior though, but with the silver stitch rather than red.

It's got red seat belts which means it's not got the GTS pack. It has got leather though and has standard stitching. It's a decent spec though with Bose, LED lights leather and Glass roof. 4K miles too

I have ordered a gts and hope to get delivery in june or april.traded in my 981 spyder after only 10 months of ownership, surprisingly with a reasonable trade in offer from a porsche dealer.Anyway, the porsche configureinfuriator can be an endless exercise in wallet emptying sillyness.I have kept it simple with really only glass roof(i had a black on black 997 a few years ago and found the cabin a bit dark) and RWS.just as it will eventually turn in to a standard fit across most 911 models. As for some of all the other options well heated seats is about it.I also dont like black wheels or black badges, so have asked for the car to be delivered unbadged, then i plan to put silver porsche and gts badge on the back, and take centre lock wheels to finishers and have them painted in gt silver.ordered car in night blue metallic as my spyder was gt silver but thought it looked a bit boring after a while.but each to their own, they must be making fortunes out of us fools.one more point, price increases are meant to be coming in may, so whot happens if this falls between ordering and receiving delivery.do you have to stump up the extra?

You pay price at time of delivery I think so if it increases after your order but before you take delivery you pay the extra. Just check with wheel colour change - I think the centre lock nuts are anodised rather than painted so best check that out

They are indeed anodised and not for painting.
The 997 GTS had black wheel with silver centre locks. This would be silver wheels with black centre locks.

Might be best to delete centre locks in this case.

It doesnt look like the JZM car has GTS pack (which includes full leather dash and door cards) No deviated stitching and headrest inlay is a give away which is why they haven't really photo'd the inside of the car I think. Looks like a nice enough car if you want the manual - is it worth waiting it out possibly to find the right car someone wants to pay nearly £100k for?
I guess it depends on how fussy you are on a car specification - but a lot of £ to spend for something that isn't exactly what you want?

Interesting re comments about PDK to Manual - owners, what convinced you that the PDK was the choice for the GTS rather than manual? driving

PDK every time for me. Wouldn't go back to manual. Love everything about it and the ability to change between auto mode and manual mode with paddles or even a combo of both. Suits the car, is quicker and great fun. I still get why people like manual but I won't look back.

Manual cars seem to stick around a while sometimes? I think a lot of people on here mention manual but I think the actual market is pretty small. If I get a 991.2 GT3 it'll be PDK.

I had a go in a 991.2 with the RWS. I'm not sure if there was something wrong with that car but it felt very strange to me and I didn't like it. The car felt like it was going to swap ends very briefly when turning into fast corners and even when accelerating in a straight line it felt like the car was 'twisting' sometimes. Hard to describe but I found it very unsettling.
What tyres did the car you drove have - summer or winters? I thought very similar when I drove a RWS C2S recently, but it had winter tyres fitted which made it feel very loose at the back as the tread book's clearly moved around A LOT (but a wonderful rubbery ride was a definite upside).

I've since driven one on summer tyres and it's totally different; I would explain it just like IREvans has....unlike the non RWS cars which always push wide initially, RWS perceptibly reduces the initial understeer and instead rotates the car a lot sooner, but not so much that it feels like oversteer. RWS does make it feel nicely balanced and, at speed, it's astonishingly stable. A tiny turning circle is a bonus too.

I've ordered a C4 GTS, on the basis I like the light bar and it will probably enable deployment of it's power more of the time on our wet, greasy roads. But I must admit I am having second thoughts because I do want a car that can move at the back end (controllably) and I don't want an understeery car. The videos I've seen and the road tests I've read suggest the 4wd Carrera is definitely not prone to undertseer and can rotate with the best of them, however I welcome opinions from C4 owners.

I ordered a month ago but no idea on build date yet. Those of you who have build dates in April/May, when did you place your orders? Wifey is picking up a new Macan Turbo next week so hopefully they'll be able to give me some indication then.

Spec is a touch indulgent and currently sits as follows:

Carrera 4 GTS PDK
Carmine red
Black 20" centre locks
Alcantara package GTS Carmine Red
PDCC
-20mm PASM sports suspension
Rear-axle steering
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake
LED main headlights
Porsche Entry & Drive
ParkAssist (front and rear) with reversing camera
Privacy glass (rear side windows and rear window)
Fuel filler cap with aluminium look finish
Power steering plus
Adaptive cruise control
Lane change assist
Speed limit display
Dimming mirrors and rain sensor
Light design package
GT Sport steering in leather
Heated multifunction steering wheel
18-way adaptive sports seats plus
Seat heating
Smoking package
Passenger footwell storage net
Steering column casing in leather
Sports seat plus backrests in leather
Extended interior package door panel in leather/alcantara
Sun visors in alcantara
Illuminated stainless steel door guards
Burmester

Agree with this.

It's partly because the 991's 7-speed manual gearbox isn't particularly good, but mainly because the PDK gearbox is so well suited to the car. Effortless in traffic, brilliantly fast at the red line.

I also think that Porsche's PDK is also one of the best dual clutch gearboxes in production today. I have an M2, and the DCT gearbox in that, whilst good, is no match for PDK. I also had a 488 Spider for a week recently - fantastic powertrain combination, but again, didn't swap cogs with the ferocity of a 991RS at full chat..!

I'd love to know if the difference between PDK in a C2S, and PDK-S in an RS is just software. Does anyone know..? I can't believe there's mechanical changes in there...

Glad it's not just me then!!

I've got no idea on the tyres to be honest. The car was just a demo I took out. Thinking back it may have been early last year so possibly time of year for winters. Whatever i didn't like it at all. The funny thing is I think 991 GT3s have RWS standard and not heard much about them so it's probably all ok? I'd definitely want an extended test drive before I ordered.

Nice spec by the way!

ETA - regards the understeer I've got a 2 GTS. Went out in a 4 and it was good and had a 996 4S years ago which I loved so used to 4 wheel drive. To be honest the 2 grips so much that I didn't feel the need for the 4 and felt the steering on the 2 a touch better. These cars have got such high levels of grip that if you're getting understeer on the road suggest you won't have car/licence for long. Maybe different if you track but I don't.
