hit the bed! I guess they can fairly validly argue tooling costs, low volumes, note from their mum etc. etc. but it still sounds steep.
Yes I think your comments are most likely the reasons they would use (especially note from mum). There are few around it seems as initially when I asked, they could only find one in Germany. They managed to find another but it doesn't sound like they keep many in stock. The motorsport ones which also come from Porsche where completely out of stock.
Well whatever the case, thanks for sharing.

Next time I'm getting a bking from my wife for spending on the car/mountain bikes I will produce this gem as evidence of my financial probity. wink

So today I decided to go through everything to make sure I have all the parts needed ready for the next phase. I quickly decided it would be interesting to see everything laid out in order to see just how much new stuff is going on the car. The car is going in on Monday to Road & Race, but as yet I have no idea how long they will need. I have a feeling it's going to be a couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get access whilst they are working on the car and maybe be able to film or at least get some stills of the process.

I also added a clip of the car in that carpark accelerating away, which was fun. I was in there for a photo shoot for my car as I'm doing another article for SuperCar Driver magazine.

Hello stranger! Haven't seen you on the 'other' forum lately. Does this mean you have changed cars again? I thought you were getting a GT4?

Yes I'm nuts, but nearly there now.

Got the GT4 and have a Spyder arriving end of April / early May. Depending upon what side of the bed I get out of I'm either keeping the GT4 and Spyder or Defender and Spyder. We'll see biggrin

At some point I'd love an early 70's 911 or recreation.

Nice, so you managed to get a GT4 and get on the list for a Spyder? Impressive. What a choice to have to make eh? Not sure what I would do there, they will probably drive very similarly. I was at Oulton Park a few weeks ago and the Spyder and GT4s on track sounded identical. I think the Spyder is stunning and I love a convertible so I think I'd be tempted that way. I have a Boxster again now. I bought a 987 with a cracking spec including PCCBs. However I'm really interested in the new 718 so I'm gng to the launch and will go from there.

I'd love an old 911 but the prices have gone crazy.

The Spyder was something that came up - right place at the right time kind of deal. Think I had the last UK allocation. I'm still tempted to keep them both and sell my Defender.

Given the spotlight which seems to be on the GT4 sales I probably will. When the 991.2 GT3 is formally announced, having one or both of the GT4 and Spyder to trade-in will hopefully put me In a good position to secure a car - but who knows!

It's all fun and games in the world of Porsche at the moment!!

That looks fantastic.

A delicate question....have you calculated the total cost?

Nooo. I've been asked a couple of times. I have an idea of current spends, but I haven't sat down with receipts and calculated it. I think I'd have a stroke! It's approx £25k up to now. (But I think it's more) Not including the costs for paint and labour for the front end.

Had 2 TechArt conversions by Tech9. Phil, Mark, and the gang are an excellent bunch of people.

Looking forward to seeing the finished results!

Actually that's not quite as bad as I thought. Great job.

Thanks, yeah they did the rear bumper conversion for me and I was very happy with the results. The paint work is being done by Road & Race.

Had a call today that my car had all the panels on now for the dry fit before painting. So I drove down to Tech9 to check it out.

Centre radiator is all in place now with ducting. I had to order more parts though as I'd missed some. The guy working on my car really knows his RS cars. He was pointing out bits I need and telling me about which bits are correct etc.

So Parts ordered, are ducting for left and right radiators
More ducting for inside wheel arches to direct air to the brakes as fitted to all RS cars and various bolts and bits to fix them in place. Also a metal bracket that goes under the front bumper to strengthen it when in place.

Porsche Wilmslow are sending them direct to Tech9 once they arrive which is excellent service!
