The 570S is a wonderful car but that story is completely wrong, on the McLaren Forum (on FB) we have members who have P1's, P1 GTR's and probably about 10 675LT's and some are serious pro-drivers - and most of them have driven the 570S - and yes it's good but outright performance is still slower than 650 + 675, it doesn't have a) the power b) or the traction - its 70+BHP down on the 675 and doesn't have anywhere near the Aero.

The 675 is lapping most tracks multiple seconds faster than the GT3 RS (and I have seen multiple videos to prove)

That all said - for 570S has much more usable power on the road, 650/675 are not possibly to use even at 80% of potential on the road, the 570 was designed with less rubber and a setup that lets you have fun on the road.
I've no doubt that may/could be the case & as stated was only referencing a Pro driver who'd driven them both extensively at Sepang. Perhaps he couldn't get on with the 675 but i went out with him in a 570S & he certainly appeared to know how to drive that & in his words he said other drivers at Sepang came to the same conclusion. I did of course take it with a pinch of salt & although he was freelance, i was attending a 570S event so he was hardly likely to say they're cr@p.

Anyhow, i guess this topic can now close as i'm no longer undecided & placed my order today for:

Porsche 991 Gen 2 Turbo S
Sapphire Blue with Black interior (may change this to Agate Grey)
Is currently an 11mth lead time so delivery expected March 1st 17.

Options are as follows but went at it with tight fists.

LED main headlights in black including PDSL+
Privacy Glass rear & rear side windows
Speed Limit Display
HomeLink
Heated Multifunction steering wheel
Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18-way electric)
Seat Heating
Smoking Package (gives you a cover over a small storage cubby hole & an extra 12v outlet)
Floor Mats
Passenger footwell storage net

That's it. Was tempted by other options but the standard car is extremely well spec'd.

I have no idea why the lead times have shot up over the last few weeks, but it seems to be the case at most/all OPC's.

When i started looking & first called into OPC Bolton in February, the lead times were 6mths but the Gen 2 Turbo S had not long been launched & the dealer cars were only arriving later in February. Now they're in the wild & they've had some fantastic reviews in the press, i guess demand has increased quickly & thus the lead times risen. Can only be a good thing for buyers though assuming they're prepared to wait.

The anomaly car is the Macan GTS which is currently suffering with 18mth lead times & i found that more than a little surprising.

God times to be a Porsche dealer...I was told in Feb I think that petrol engined Macan's were a year wait.

Anyway congrats on the mighty fine purchase....the wait will go very slowly and very quickly at the same time!

When I was looking about a month ago there were a couple of July free spec slots for Turbo S but otherwise it was Q4.

Currently agate grey but I think I'm going to switch to graphite blue.

As for spec:

Delete model designation
Porsche logo painted
PDLS+ in black
Tilt/slide glass sunroof
Privacy glass
Roof transport system
Headlight cleaning covers painted
SportDesign exterior mirror lower trims painted in black (high gloss)
Front axle lift system
Light design package
Rear Footwell lighting
Floor mats
Isofix
Burmester sound system

I am debating Power Steering Plus, and seat centres/steering wheel/PDK lever in alcantara!

My current GTS is Agate Grey and gets loads of positive comments from mates etc, all seem to love the colour. I like it but do not think it's that stand out.
I saw this on Twitter yesterday.........Yum:

I sent that picture to my OPC to ask what colour it is! Any idea? I think it's graphite blue.

Yep, saw a standard 4S in that colour in Swindon a few weeks back, very light sensitive and seems to split opinion but I love it.

and privacy glass? the rears' blacked out the fronts' crystal clear?
This and satin/matt black wheels. A scourge on such beautiful cars IMO.

I can't speak for the OP - and don't mean to hijack his thread - but I certainly debated privacy glass for the reason that you've given. I've come (for now) to the position that it works better than clear glass with the (tinted glass) sunroof. I also intend to have a baby seat in the back and I think it will look better than stick-on sun visors.

Agreed a deal over the weekend on used 991.1 TTS in Agate at fair price from local OPC. Compared it at length to a black example, also very nice but must be getting old as slightly preferred the brown hints in Agate and a change from my black 997.2 TTS. If I was ordering a new 991.2 TTS, would have gone Graphite Blue or PTS flat, dark grey.

Also not a fan of privacy glass (or sunroofs) and ruled out 991's with those options, expect I am in the minority that don't like such things. Appreciate benefits of tint if carrying kids in back though.

570S/used 650 was of interest too but ultimately just didn't seem sensible/discrete enough for daily driver but will consider again in future.

It does look good on a Sapphire Blue car & works with the many black accents on the car. Only rarely would I have a child seat in the back so not ticked the option for the kids reason, purely as I think it looks good on the car & the slight benefit of keeping the cabin a little cooler in the Summer. If I went Agate I'd possibly drop the Privacy glass & the black headlights, but I'm only likely to decided on this when I visit the PEC in a couple of months.

Thanks Tim.

The demo car I had for a weekend had the Glass sunroof & I have a sunroof in my M5 that never gets opened (albeit it's metal on the M5). What I found with the Porsche is that due to it being very dark glass it didn't let much light in while shut with the blind open & I wouldn't drive around with the sunroof open. I also don't like how the open roof looks on the outside of the car, kind of hanging off the back of the roof. Did consider briefly but saw no advantage & it would of course add a bit of weight. Would look good against privacy glass on a Blue car but wasn't enough to push me to part with £1500.
