Looks like I sold mine today.
63,000 miles. Hardback sports seats, switchable pse, new coffin arms in last two months along with service. Full history mainly main dealer. Keep looking. There will be one for you and great cars.
Curious as to why the OP wasn't interested in this car.

Because I didn't know anything about this car being for sale until I read the "just sold" post!!! I hadn't seen it advertised anywhere.

Update on our search for a C4S -

Drove a 5 1/2 hour round trip yesterday....

On arrival we discovered that the front bumper, both doors, rear wings and rear bumper, together with the cills had all been resprayed. We were a little concerned but not overly until we noticed (after our test drive and as we were just contemplating purchasing it) that the passenger side wasn't done very well at all, you could see an unevenness in it, a sort of ripple effect, and a lack of deep shine. Also, all 4 alloys were not in a good state, although to be fair they did say they'd sort these. The interior was in excellent condition though and it drove nice. Originally we had been a little put off by the fact it had had 8 previous owners, but we thought that if it was spot on in every other way it could be the one. We did love the overall look of it though and my wife was a lot happier with the C4S after driving it, however we couldn't really be comfortable with the poor respray job. Do you think we are being too fussy, or are there any C4S's out there still that haven't had nearly all the bodywork resprayed?

We are quite down about it all once again. If we aren't going to be able to find a decent one then we'll have to think about something else, or nothing at all. Having had new or nearly new cars for the last few years, it's difficult trying to buy an old one. Maybe one will turn up that will change our minds, but I'm not that confident.

That seems cheap based on the ones I looked at for that sort of money. What was the body work and interior like?
The interior is always immaculate and gets cleaned every weekend, even when it doesn't need it. The front bumper has the usual stones chips as you would expect for a car of this age and milage. The corner of the front bumper had a small scrape where someone else parking their car looks to have scraped it. It hasn't grazed the plastic but there is a small area of paintwork it has marked. It's not noticeable and this is me being picky. I was going to get this sorted with the front bumper re spray. The person I've agreed the sale with preferred to purchase the car as seen and take care of this if they decide they want a refresh. All four wheels are spotless. I've owned the car for over five years.

The car wasn't advertised, I've agreed the sale of the car with a neighbour who I got talking to whilst polishing it. I had intended to advertise it this week.

I don't want to get involved in too much naming & shaming as this could be a one off for this particular dealer, or I could just be too fussy or very unlucky, but it is south of London. I do still believe that they could have been a bit more honest with their description though, plus the fact that the advert and photos were over 12 months old didn't help with my potential purchase!
I can PM you if you want further info.

I'm with you on that, the 997 Carrera just doesn't do it for me, I thought about it for a while then a couple of friends got them.

I've driven their 997c2S's a far bit and I can't notice the additional power at all and find the steering lacking weight.

And despite the interior of the 996 getting a fair bit of flack for how dated it appears, the 997's interior is no better and just seems cheap and plasticky.

The 997 S can do some fun things out of damp and wet corners/roundabouts that the C4S just never does, but I can see that being fun right up until it ends in tears.

I prefer the look of the 996 C4S, the handling and the interior over a 997 Carrera S.

A Turbo, now that could get my attention but an extra £30k is a whole heap of money and for that I'd say you need to really want one?

For me it's V8 vantage +£15k or Audi R8 +£20/25k and I'm not sure that I really want either of them enough to part with the C4S

I've recently driven an early vantage but I'm wanting a bit more go in my next car. I thought it felt as though it should have had more power. I like the R8 but I'd have to have a V10 and they are more than I want to spend. Also think the interior is a bit Like all other Audi cars, which I'm not a fan of.

This one looks nice, a little toppy on the price but you should be able to have a a haggle as a private sale? 2004 car as well.

Interesting, but as you say a bit pricey. I'm seriously considering 997's now as the 996 C4S's are either hard to find in nice condition, overpriced or sold! I'm beginning to think I've "missed the boat" so to speak with the values seemingly on a sharp rise.
Both owners and dealers are fully aware of this too!

I suspect he is chancing his arm at £30k and if it checked out ok then 25-26 might be a fair offer with those miles?

I bought mine last year and I'm so glad I did. I've seen similar cars at 3-5K more this year :-S

My mate at Hartech tells me everyone is PPI'ing C4S's at the moment and the prices are on the up.

There seems to be a quite a lot for sale at the moment but lots of tips. A few manual for sale but pretty strong money.

Edit to add this one just come on for sale, looks ok, nice colour.

That being said having given it some thought I wouldn't do a straight swap for either a 997.1 C2 or 997.1 C4S for my one so maybe the prices are about right?
A 997.2 C4S is a different matter altogether and a really nice one sold this afternoon at Camerron sports cars that would have tempted me to sell mine had it not sold sooon.

You've got to love the description and the effort some sellers go to!

Looking at the number plate it is sytners main dealer who have had there own auction site selling there px cars and the descriptions on there are a bit sketchy , I have noticed them getting top money for 996/997 gen 1 all variants on there auction, so now venturing onto piston heads and the like to gather interest I suspect...

Well this thread I started as "996 C4S purchase" took a different turn...

We've just bought a 997 C2S from Zuffenhaus who have been a breath of fresh air compared to some of the dealers we've been to. We are really pleased as all we really wanted was a nice 911 at our price point, it's just that the 996 C4S seemed the best buy, but it was difficult finding one.

The 997 is a 2004 with 60k, it's had a Hartech rebuild in 2011 so that provides us with some comfort. It's in great condition but Zuffenhaus are still going to get the alloys refurbished and put a new clutch and RMS in. The spec ticks most of our boxes too, including the all important (for me at least!) PSE, PCM/Sat Nav, sports seats, heated seats, park sensors, sunroof, Bose, short shifter, PCCB brakes, 19" Sport Design alloys, and it's Seal Grey which we love.

Thanks once again to everyone on here who has helped us in our search, especially INWB for the great demo ride.

I would also like to mention Tom at 911Virgin and Steve and Greig at RPM Technik who were extremely helpful and very professional. They both let me know when they got a vehicle in that I would be interested in, but the Zuffenhaus car was the one for us ultimately. I would not hesitate to recommend or use any of these specialists in the future.
