Superb, that's more like it.

I had a lengthy chat with Tom this morning, he certainly knows his stuff and I would be happy to buy from them from what I've seen and heard so far.

Curious as to why the OP wasn't interested in this car.
Because I didn't know anything about this car being for sale until I read the "just sold" post!!! I hadn't seen it advertised anywhere.

What part of the country was this car ??

I am considering a C4S myself , you might save me a journey .
I don't want to get involved in too much naming & shaming as this could be a one off for this particular dealer, or I could just be too fussy or very unlucky, but it is south of London. I do still believe that they could have been a bit more honest with their description though, plus the fact that the advert and photos were over 12 months old didn't help with my potential purchase!
I can PM you if you want further info.

The car wasn't advertised, I've agreed the sale of the car with a neighbour who I got talking to whilst polishing it. I had intended to advertise it this week.
Ah that explains that then, thanks!

If your neighbour changes his mind or let's you down, give me a shout please!

Interesting, but as you say a bit pricey. I'm seriously considering 997's now as the 996 C4S's are either hard to find in nice condition, overpriced or sold! I'm beginning to think I've "missed the boat" so to speak with the values seemingly on a sharp rise.
Both owners and dealers are fully aware of this too!

Well this thread I started as "996 C4S purchase" took a different turn...

We've just bought a 997 C2S from Zuffenhaus who have been a breath of fresh air compared to some of the dealers we've been to. We are really pleased as all we really wanted was a nice 911 at our price point, it's just that the 996 C4S seemed the best buy, but it was difficult finding one.

The 997 is a 2004 with 60k, it's had a Hartech rebuild in 2011 so that provides us with some comfort. It's in great condition but Zuffenhaus are still going to get the alloys refurbished and put a new clutch and RMS in. The spec ticks most of our boxes too, including the all important (for me at least!) PSE, PCM/Sat Nav, sports seats, heated seats, park sensors, sunroof, Bose, short shifter, PCCB brakes, 19" Sport Design alloys, and it's Seal Grey which we love.

Thanks once again to everyone on here who has helped us in our search, especially INWB for the great demo ride.

I would also like to mention Tom at 911Virgin and Steve and Greig at RPM Technik who were extremely helpful and very professional. They both let me know when they got a vehicle in that I would be interested in, but the Zuffenhaus car was the one for us ultimately. I would not hesitate to recommend or use any of these specialists in the future.

Looks great. Love the wheels. I'm a bit surprised it needs a new clutch so early, and an RMS replacement so soon after a Hartech rebuild.
Thanks. To be fair Zuffenhaus said the clutch is ok but they'll change it anyway as part of its presale prep, and since they're doing that they may as well fit a new RMS. They are also getting the wheels refurbished as they said they weren't 100% up to their standard, so I'm really pleased that they seem to care about the car.
I am local to them too which is a bonus for both parties going forward for servicing and repairs. Hopefully this is the start of a good relationship!
Then again, with the Hartech engine, new clutch & tyres and 20% worn ceramic brakes, hopefully it won't need too much spending on it anytime soon, fingers crossed!!

Hopefully the ceramic brakes will help there! I don't really know much about them but I've read they don't chuck out brake dust? I hate that after I've meticulously cleaned my wheels, I'm afraid to use the brakes!!!

Really chuffed for you both - car looks superb and hope you have many fun miles in it. As a fellow porsche club member hope to see you at the Chatsworth event later in the year.

In meantime if you can PM me on how my car compared to the many many C4S you saw I would appreciate it. Having a fair bit of work done to it now I have got the bug but any improvements you would recommend would be gratefully received.

Thanks!
Yes we hope to get to as many events as possible. We're starting with this weekend by going to Anglesey and Llandudno, but unfortunately not in the 911 as we haven't picked it up yet :-(

I'll PM you in a bit

That looks fantastic, well done. And really good value from a specialist with that spec. Enjoy!
Thanks griffter.

Yes we think it's a good buy too. It's got a few stonechips and one or two age related marks but nothing too bad. They're going to detail it they said, but I'm sure we'll spend a day or two on it ourselves.
