I've leased a car for the first time and it's got the inspection/oil change message flashing up, so the first trip back to the dealer is not far away. Does anyone know what sort of cost to expect for this? Would it be a minor service? I've previously owned 2nd hand cars so this is uncharted territory for me.

TIA

Around £150 - £200, ring up a few local dealers and see what they say...

More than that - if it's a leased car it'll be on long life servicing. Doesn't really make any difference to the work but the dealer will know they've got the user over a barrel. I'll guess at £260.

I paid £145 on the first Longlife service for my GTD last month at Citygate VW so it can be had for that sort of money. As I say the trick is to try a few different dealers smile

Yes look for the cheapest possible that full fills the requirements of the lease. After all it's not your car so use and give it back shagged. Er well used !

We are just returning an S5 at work a month early tyres shot , never been serviced ( just inside the period / time ) so happy days it was cheap to lease and zero running costs other than fuel never even had the oil topped up. It's only a 2 year deal and low mileage.

My old A4 is still on original pads and rear tyres at 65k that going back month early to to avoid service tyres and brakes

Ifunny about brakes Audi got all upset that t hey hadn't worn out they were confused and thought at the previous 2 services they had already been done poor prunes ! I have always been Light on brakes funny really everyone's complains I drive like I have just stolen the car , but I do wear tyres out , A4 20 k fronts , current Passat doubt will get that out of fronts .

Just booked my Passat in for its first service at VW in Lincoln and they are quoting just under £170. Pretty dear for an oil change and they were trying to stiff me another £25 for an engine flush or somesuch nonsense.

It [a minor service i.e. an oil change] would be £159 on VW's fixed price servicing however that's every 10k miles and I assume your car is on a long-life service regime i.e. every 20k miles? If so, I'd expect them to charge approximately £200 as the long-life oil incurs a slight premium.

Does the lease specify the servicing has to cat tied out by a main dealer?

Any garage that is V.A.T registered can service your car without affecting any warranty, that's been the law since about 2002.

I had my CC 3.6L serviced at my local independent garage for £100. Usually it's £60 for oil n filter upto 2L

That fixed price is for cars over 3yrs old.

I think on the long-life schedule as well as oil (which they charge more for as it's LL even though they probably use the same in everything) & filter and some checks the car, they also should change the pollen filter.

They can do it very cheap if they want to but finding someone to negotiate with can be impossible in these group owned dealerships.

by mistake I was given the invoice that goes to VW for our Golf's first service and it was £68. There are some low prices already quoted in the thread and I read elsewhere someone got a dealer to price match a fast-fit oil and filter change price. He was lucky the book got stamped though.

If it's leased through VWFS then it must be dealer serviced.

The well regarded VAG indie in our area quoted more than the dealer for basic servicing! I still used them as I hate the dealer so much and the invoice did come out a bit cheaper than they said.

Well I got round to checking and its £179 inc a pollen filter. Car is around 17,000 miles.

Not as horrendous as it could have been.

Lees than I thought - was that straight off, or did you haggle?
