Recently sold my Cayman GTS (PDK) in favor of this 911 C4S.

I loved the CGTS, don't get me wrong it's a hoot to drive but the 911 is personally an all around visually better car (especially in wide body format). I feel maybe it didn't have much soul or character to it compared to the charms of the 997. Living in Dubai/UAE people seem to be very careless when parking and dinks are common. The CGTS was mint without a single mark and I was constantly concerned about where I parked it, to a point I just didn't drive it enough as well.

My 997 has circa 20k miles on the clock. 2009 model, PDK , in Atlas Grey and nicely trimmed interior. Sports+ etc. Only thing it's missing is the PSE. But I'll fit a Sharkwerks bypass to liven it up a little.

Driving differences the midrange is very apparent on the 3.8 motor compared to the 3.4 on the 981. PDK isn't as fast/punchy and the 997 (without PSE) is about 50% quieter than the CGTS! But I do get to hear that flat-6 sound track. Also pleased I now have a sunroof!

Ordered a SportDesign steering wheel to remove those silly buttons as well.

Couple of quick phone pics:

Nice looking car. Atlas is a nice colour and I do like that red stitching.

I've seen the state of rental cars out there, so I can believe that. When Mrs & I stayed a couple of nights at the Burj for our 1st wedding anniversary, en route to my mate's who was in Oman at the time, I had strict instructions not to "spend a fortune on flash hire cars this time". My mate sorted a boggo Honda Civic from his firm's in-house provider and, when it emerged from the underground car park on checking out, it was a shed - not an undented or unscratched panel on it. I felt very proud, having seen the previous car the valets collected; a red Ferrari 360 spider. hehe

So true. A mate of mine (and fellow PHer here in Dubai) was selling his car last week. Parked up in the RTA (DVLA equivalent place) to do the handover/transfer to the new owner. Whilst waiting in the car park, someone pulled up next to him and opened the door on his car whilst he were in it! No body gives a st here. Other buddy insists that his wife parks his nice motor miles away from any other cars when she uses it and I don't blame him! (not for her parking skills, but other muppets)

Looks great - can't beat the 4s rear red strip - good move by Porsche to bring it back for the Gen2 4s

Car looks great, especially on that warm sand!

I was in Abu Dhabi recently on holiday and was amazed at complete lack of care in cars with even the best wearing battle scars...

Now get that Sharkwerks ordered wink

Hi,

I'm in dxb with a 997. Who did you go to for the Sharwerks and was it ridiculously priced? What's your plans for the old wheel? Is it multi function?

Saw a Merc S Class crashed hard enough into the side of a bridge to rite it off in Dubai while we were there. They are utterly mad, but it is another sort of mad driving over to Oman, bcause it feels like there is barely a quarter mile of the journey where you don't have to look out for pedestrians, cyclists, donkey carts, tractors earthmovers and anything else crossing or pulling onto the highway.

Hi Kempus

I'm going to order the Sharkwerks from Chris (who posted above) as he supplies them in the UK and can ship them over to the UAE. Not sure they make them for the Turbo, but drop him a message. Maybe we can share some of the postage cost?!

I'll probably keep the MF wheel to be honest and re-fit when it comes to selling the car.

Lovely looking Turbo btw!
