I didn't know they made one so just looked. It has been a long time since I sadly needed any hair products, but it does look amazing:

I'm going to buy 2.

One for the boss, the other for Mum.

It isn't as if they just knocked it up on the back of a fag packet.

4 Years and 50 Million on R&D and British jobs... and taxes etc etc etc

I wonder if it will be as appalling designed as their Airblade V?

Or as cheaply made as their vacuum cleaners?

It's certainly as overpriced as either of those.

50 million. To produce a glorified fan?
bks.

R+D is tax deductable. Hell, there's even tax credits - so the motivation to call all spend R+D is clear.

IF the mill cost really is as low as 30 quid, then the margin contribution per unit is 210 quid. They really expecting to sell 1/2 a million of these?

Quite Apple-esque in design, and positioning. If it's as good as the reviews say, it'll fly off the shelves.

Dyson scores again. Well done for the recognition of the market segment; clever man / management team.

I just laughed at that .(not at you...just the comment ). as Apple took it's design cues from Dyson many years ago, and wasn't shy about saying so.

Many people buy Apple and Bose devices.....
Nuff said.

Original Dyson vac was way above anything else you could buy at the time. Not sure anything since has been though. They did make the first hand dryer that actually worked though.

No they didn't. Those things were in use in Japan at least 12yrs ago. I remember going into the facilities in a bar in Tokyo and being amazed...

Truly terrible. Especially if installed over a sink! OK if you're wearing darker trousers, but beyond that, expect supersonic splatter.

Like every other hand dryer.....

The original... which covered your hands was the best...

But you make what the market wants...

Exactly.

Why would anyone think this works?

Why would "the market" want uncontrolled splatter?

Apple. £100 phones for £600.
BMW / Audi / VW. £20,000 cars for £35,000

If you could do that, wouldn't you? Such is the world of branding and marketing.

Does my head in when Dyson bangs on about engineering prowess and his company's role in encouraging and indeed defining innovation

fk me, a collection of vacuum cleaners, hand dryers and now a hair dryer.

Innovation and stunning engineering was the Yanks saying in 1960 that they'd be walking on the moon within a decade. And then doing it.
