As per title. The 2.5 and 5ghz come up as DE on a scan, google fu is not too good, this going to be an issue on the frequencies?

Manufacturer says it is factory set.

It shouldn't matter at all. Wifi is wifi. There are some extended frequencies but devices can cope with it.

If it's a fritzbox, the modem settings are not okay for vdsl and you need to flash uk firmware.

It is working fine including English when browsing into it fresh out the box. Updated OK as per instructions, all English. Took a minute to setup and it was off and running on Infinity 2. I/P TV works fine as well.

My only concern was the frequencies. Not wanting to conflict with the other home wifi routers in the area. Quick email to the manufacturer and they confirmed the unit was German factory set wifi, non user selectable.

Oh. I had to flash a UK modem firmware on mine.

Anyway, don't worry about the wifi. I have an American router now and can choose the country. All it does is expose higher channels and allow a change of power output. None of which seem to conflict.

OK, run with it then.

I only have 4 5ghz frequencies on my selections as well, need to dig out the old router and see how many that has.

Edit. About 12 5ghz frequencies on the old router.

You are actually wrong.

Different countries are assigned different channels / frequencies, and in some cases it is not even legal to use certain channels in certain countries.

Wiki

This is why with some routers, at setup time you are prompted for the country you are in - this sets the router to use the correct channels / frequencies for that country.

So yes, it does matter.

I have set UK as my region.

Just that the wifi descriptor says "DE" when I scan it, all others are GB, and it is factory set (as per reply in support ticket).

The issues is I don't want to be interfering on the wifi and still time to return it.

tp link vr900 BTW. Anyone else with one?

Well ... I'm not actually wrong, but legally suspect smile I know that my router for example kicks out frequencies (and power) that are illegal in the UK. But the computers and phones it connects to can cope with nearly all frequencies.

OK, its going back then. I count 9 channels (other users routers in the area). If there is to be issues, I don't want to be the cause.

Is it an Archer VR900 ?

I would guess it has EU firmware and depending on the initial configuration / locale , will set the appropriate channels.

As someone said earlier, some channels are 'unavailable' in the UK settings on some routers. I often try an enable channel 14 in congested network areas , but not all devices in the UK support it (and Ofcom wouldn't be too keen)

I'd not send it back, it will be working fine.
