Due to lack of space I want to put a bin into one of my kitchen cupboards.

I want to make it easy to use, so when you open the door the bin comes out and it is open for tipping stuff into (i.e don't want to then have to pull out the bin or lift a lid.

Something liek this is perfect but way to expensive.

Does anyone have any ieeas on how to fashion something DIY? Main concern is weight of the bin may be too heavy when full for the door fixings. The oen below looks quite sturdy.

Also I wnat to for general waste whereas I think these areaiming for lightweight recycled waste.

If you have the space why not have a bin with an automatic lid opener

You'll only ever gave to take it out to empty it

I was thinking along the same lines as you but wanted to fit into an existing cupboard. I ended up going for this pull out unit from IKEA which slides on the cupboard base and hols 2 bins. Really cheap and still going strong after 2 years.

These are the ones we install in all our furniture. Very solid runners and the lid stays in the cabinet. Highly recommend.

Not cheap but should last the life of the kitchen.

Is this sort of bin easy to retro fit into a narrow 30cm cupboard?

We're about to free up a cupboard and I'd like to put the bin/recycling in there, to get them out of the way, so this thread has come at the right time!

Yes, it's all easy enough to fit if you work out the hole positions and make a spacer to get your holes in the right place. You'll find though that your 30cm cupboard is the same as our 30cm drawers, the usable space once you've subtracted the frame and runners isn't much more than 20cm. Might be better than nothing, might just not be big enough for you? If you really wanted to do it I'd think a DIY option could get you more useable space, but would be a lot more effort.

We did this. A bin that slides out with a lid.

I regret it constantly. The mechanism that the sliding bin sits on is affixed permanently to the cupboard and the sliding bin is fixed permanently to that. It makes cleaning very, very hard. And bins are where muck goes so it is always needing it.

If you get one - make sure it is a piece of piss to detach the bin and get at the inside of the cupboard so you can wipe it out...

I have an integrated bin that works well. A 30cm base unit with a sliding rack in the base that has sides about a foot high. It originally had two silly small bins so I gave them away and stood one big proper bin in it (without lid). For small stuff just open the door and pop it in the slot. For crumbs, pull it forwards a few inches and sweep them straight in. For big stuff or to empty, pull it right forwards.

I fitted one of these over 10 years ago and can't fault it.

What more do you need from a bin? It opens when you open the door, you chuck crap in, shut the door again, job jobbed. rotate

I move house on Friday, I'm leaving it behind as it's a bit minging now but I'll probably be fitting a new one in the new kitchen.

I've also had one of these for years and it's bin fine. I don't use the lid though as it swings just under the shelf. However we don't put left over food in there as it goes out for the feathered ones.

We've got something very similar - scroll to Waste Bins about a third of the way down

Excellent and you get two bins in your cupboard smile
