So managed to get the boot open with some help from fellow forum members - many thanks for this.

I need to change the boot solenoid, but can't get the old one off. I have undone the 2 screws and can access a little through the cut out, but there is not enough cable to allow the solenoid to be removed through the cut out section. I started to cut away some of the fibre glass inside to try and get better access, but then decided that this wasn't such a good idea. Also, the cable seems to be caught somewhere, but i cannot get access to behind the fibre glass.

To make thigs worse, the end of the cable stopper thingy is stuck to the cable, even though I have removed the screw, so i can't remove the cable from the solenoid.

Any advice would be appreciated. has anyone else had these sorts of difficulties?

Thanks,

Mark

I managed to turn the solenoid around enough to pull it down so I could detach the cable then remove,,, if I remember rightly.

Quick update - I ended up abandoning the job and took the car to the nice chaps at X Works Service just outside of Preston. They did a quick and excellent job of replacing the soleniod and it is all sorted. Also passed its MOT, so time to motor!
