Only one side of the rear spoiler goes up automatically which causes the spoiler failure message to show at the base of the rev counter. If I raise the spoiler manually using the switch inside the car before driving off so that the spoiler is level the failure message doesn't come on when I go over 70/75mph.

My car is nearly 9 years old and has done c53k miles. Anyone else had this problem and if so was the spoiler drive repaired or replaced? I've been told that a new spoiler drive is £2k + VAT!!

Hi,

I had spoiler failure and it was resolved under warranty. However they didn't change the deck lid but just the spoiler actuators and pump.

There is a guy out there who services the actuators as it's normally the seals in these that causes a leak and thus lose of pressure/fluid.

Check if there is oil dripping from the actuators as this will point to a seal or it could just be a sensor.

The guy that services them has made an electric solution which he sells online but can't remember the site right now.

Other options would be locating a Aerokit spoiler and reprogramming the module or go go for a deck lid from a carerra which I think looks good and to be honest, how often do you go over 150mph.

Oh or pay the 2k+ if you want a standard car. I was just lucky with the warranty.

Good advice from Kempus, it will just be a strut that needs attention

Apart from the idea of putting a standard Carrera rear on a turbo which would look monumentally shyte

Fair enough but all in ones opinion and I choose to have mine fixed with warranty. I personally think it's a nod to the 964 rs but you prob think that's Shyte as well. Nothing wrong with clean lines.

Yes all personal opinion

A narrow body 964RS was designed to have the flush non spoiler, and looks lovely

A wide body turbo needs a proper turbo rear spoiler for balance and as it was designed, looks bloody odd without

All IMHO of course

Looks better than turbo spoiler IMO and it will add a few mph to top speed smile

i thought top speed is a function of gearing and rev limiter

Or can we really get these things up to 200mph?

You'd be better with a spoiler generating some downforce rather than a flat spoiler.

If you want a nod towards an RS why not a ducktail (also nod towards a Sport Classic).

RPM do one

I quite like the ducktail ... def worth considering if a £2k bill starts heading my way. BTW the actuators have a rubber cup on the bottom of them so if you remove this you can see if its leaking fluid.

Any one heard of or had experience of RennKit eRam systems which is an electric Wing Actuation Kit made in the US and a lot cheaper than Porsche's hydraulic kit?

Get it checked properly see what the issue is as if the mechanism is working from the button and only causing issues at speed hopefully it's something that still salvageable

Try an indi rather then the OPC and if your near the Mildands try Ramus Porscha (he might have a spare mechanism)

If you really really get stuck I might have a mechanism which I've kept for spares but hopefully it won't come down to that

Let us know how you get on

All the best
