I'm smitten with my first 911
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I was looking at a lot of cars over the past few months and nearly went for the AMG GTS but Ive always wanted a 911 so I picked up my 991S Cab last week. I'm totally smitten with the thing... first it was the incredible sound of that engine, the way it revs and the way the thing just grips more and more!! Then the way it looks and feels, the balance, eh everything really after years of Mercs and BMW's I really get the 911 thing... it's an amazing thing, fast and very practicable.... but OMG that sound!!!!
I've joined PCGB and look forward to taking my new love everywhere!
Cheers Richie

Thanks I can't wait to get it over into the Alps... I once took an MG over there but this is going to be a completely different experience! I'm totally besotted by the thing... That noise and the boom boom booms from the back. I was thinking about acquiring a Go Pro or something to record the experience!
One memory indelibly etched is taking a TVR Griffith over the Brenner pass; top-down you could literally feel the crisp, Tirolean air being left behind as you crested, to descend into the muggier, more humid Po valley air.
An Alipine trip in that 991 cabrio will be a superb experience.

I have spent the day in the Cotswolds with my 996 and still can't stop grinning. Went up and down Fish Hill a fair few times and you discover just how incredible this machine, this orchestra of mechanics can go. I love how it is pretty analogue compared to modern cars. I like that I can have proper fun (just) on roads rather than just a track.
I will be unlikely ever to sell my c4s and I hope you enjoy yours as much in the years to come.

Congratulations and enjoy.
Be sure to drive some of the aircooled and RS cars at some point though. As good a car as it is and without wishing to piss on your bonfire, the 991 actually isn't particularly 911-like compared to the 50 odd years that came before it. To fully grasp the legend in all its brilliance and idiosyncracy you need to go back a bit, as far back as the semi trailing arm and beyond.

GoPro is a good shout, but definitely gets you into a never ending tinkering state. I ended up with two and an external mic, first run below just as a test. Happy to help with some advice if needed. Lovely car by the way. https://youtu.be/cxp_1FK_VAM

Looks great - those quad exhausts and the shape of the thing. Lush!!
May I ask how old you are. For my own reassurance that soon I'll have one too. Thanks!

Thanks I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it... Allegedly I'm 45 going on 35 or was it the other way around May I ask how old you are. For my own reassurance that soon I'll have one too. Thanks!

Thanks I'm so looking forward to taking this thing into the mountain passes. I want to hear it's 8K chatter reverberate around the cliffs! I always hold onto my cars too expecially ones that touch my heart, well I still have my old MG and doubt that this one will be going anywhere! I will be unlikely ever to sell my c4s and I hope you enjoy yours as much in the years to come.
