Moral of the story: even with one of these you cannot guarantee getting to Le Mans and back !

Will there still be no petrol in three weeks time ??

I read that this morning. I think the official term is range anxiety. Imagine planning a route based purely on petrol station locations - but I guess charging stations will become more commonplace over time.

There are already more charging points than petrol stations. The change is happening at an unprecedented rate. I would wait for the Tesla Model 3 which claims to have a 200 mile plus range and cost around £35k. I bought a Renault Zoe in December last year and haven't had the need to use my Porsche. I only use the Jaguar to visit my mother in Worthing as it has no fast charging infrastructure yet, but the point is you only take on journeys that you know you can complete then there is no range anxiety.

The Guardian article is clearly written by a journo that has never been in an EV before and this is reflected in his nervous article.

If you want to see how the EV market will destroy the fossil fuelled car industry by 2030 (or sooner) have a look at this video clip.

If Tony Seba is so convinced that Electric cars are so far ahead of conventional ones, why does he have to make stuff up and ignore so much that contradicts his opinion?

In 2016 quoting Consumer Reports from 2013 saying "best car ever" without addressing the fact that by 2015 it was not even recommended due to reliability issues is just one example.

Another is 2000 moving parts in a conventional car, 18 in an electric one. OK 4 wheels, 4 windows, 5 doors, 2 mirrors, 2 wipers, doesn't leave many left for all motive power, transmission, steering, suspension etc.

I get that the Tesla is a good car, but why make things up, and why publicise the people who make things up.

We worked out that it would cost around €70 for a couple of full charges at the local electricity rate
I'm struggling with this; either the French pay SIGNIFICANTLY more for the electricity than we do, or his figures are way wrong and shouldn't be publish in the press. I reckon on about £7-£8 for a typical charge at home (up to 90%) so would expect £10 maximum for a full charge...

Is your £10 based on a proper charger? A domestic outlet will be significantly less efficient.

That's my 7kW home charger install (POD Point) based on what I pay per unit of energy(kWh). It's no more or less efficient than a fast charger, just slower as it is less powerful.

Based on a home 32a socket.

Can't see it being 6-7x more expensive from a 13a charge
