I've been looking for a 997GTS C2 with manual gearbox for a while now, if anyone here is thinking of selling please let me know. Ideal spec would include bucket seats.

Help me out people - I was thinking I should just get one with PDK at the weekend.

Good luck with the buckets. Manuals seem hard to come by and buckets narrow your market down to highly unlikely. Sports seats are pretty good compromise imho

RPM sold a manual C2 with buckets a couple of months ago. Advertised for £65k and sold very quickly.

Maybe the owner is thinking of changing? Call can't hurt!

I'd get on the phone with all of them...JZM, Paragon, Chappell, 911 Virgin etc. I wouldn't bother with OPC's they might get one but the chances of someone actually calling you are close to zero I reckon.

I just sold my c2 GTS PDK to uber GT in Reading. It's high mileage, but don't let that put you off, it was faultless to drive, and very well taken care of.

I think Porsche Byfleet / Brooklands had one in stock

Low miles but I'd say it's very fully priced especially if you actually intend to use it!

I bought my 997 GTS (PDK) last summer and continue to believe that for use on today's roads, it offers at least as much fun, usability and practicality as anything else out there. More than quick enough in any circumstances, sounds great, provides a good level of "involvement" and thankfully seems to be holding steady investment-wise in a marketplace that looks like a minefield. This will be my last and best (and 4th) 911 spanning 32 years of Porsche ownership.

I have read what owners have said over the past few years and its now 2018 which sees the new 992 being introduced.I decided to buy a 2011 White GTS ,no Alacantra and no centre locking wheels (they look nice but one needs a long bar to take them off).

I ran a 996 turbo and thought that was quick but the GTS is quicker and makes a wonderful sound, the PDK box is a revelation and muck quicker than a manual box plus its got the Sports chronology pack which is absolutely brilliant , Sports mode for quick driving and sports plus for super quick driving on a track, the gears are left in the lowest position until a change is required so the engine is never over revved as in a manual car and it works brilliantly the sports exhaust produces a melody that beats any radio station.

The car cost me £61,500 with 28k miles on it so looking at the market place similar cars can fetch up to 80k with lower mileages especially the manual versions which in my opinion are inferior cars but some people obviously feel the wonderful PDK box is just another auto box but they are delusional as it makes for quicker 0-62 times plus it is more economical on fuel and does not require a new clutch every 30k miles.

Eh? Delusional to dislike automatic boxes? Ruined an otherwise nice post.

A new clutch every 30k miles? rofl

If that is your experience following the manual cars you have owned and driven then a PDK is probably best for you! thumbup

Given the choice, I think I’d also go for a 981 Cayman GTS (with the right options) over a 997 GTS. PDK v Manual is down to personal preference.

Great post nice and direct. There is no doubt on most forums re 911 the orthodox and purists prefer manual. I can see that if I drove tracks and perfect quiet European roads each day, but I don’t. So setting aside the purist preference I agree 100% with the view on the pdk 997 GTS with sport chronology PLUS. It is a major distinction the scplus as it offers launch control but also a special set of Motorsport gear mapping’s not offered if you didn’t option scplus with the pdk. Day to day the 997 GTS punches way above its weight in performance/ cost and sounds unreal. Many of them s drive in crappy traffic each day and the manual is annoying in that scenario the pdk covers that and when you do get open road even a short section, the various settings are serious and fully engaging. To the manual fraternity if you’ve never tried. 997 GTS with pdk AND scplus you should. It’s race technology and the 997 is a great size for today’s traffic, in terms of an investment: I don’t see them dropping much below 65k for lower mileage examples. Not overly supplied in big numbers so a very attractive proposition and nice to see a pdk fan speak up..."

I second that - At last someone who talks sense about the PDK box on the 997 GTS. I can only imagine that the people who damn this have not driven this car with the sport chrono. I really do not understand why Porsche sells PDK without it?? I drive 99% of the time in sport mode which transforms the GTS into the car it is meant to be. I've driven manuals for the large part of my driving history but I can't say I miss it in this car and it's not to say that I won't buy a manual car again as the Carrera T is the only car in the 991 line up that interests me for the future.

Most Carrera Ts specced with 'manuel' as expected.

PDK would be against the ethos of the relatively lightweight back to basics car.

Great package btw imo better than the 997 GTS.

Certainly very positive reviews from people on this forum for the T. Very interested to see how the market values the T in 3 years time. My dealer felt they should have put the 'S' engine in it. My guess is the 991 GTS's will hold better than the T - well that's what I'm hoping as the T will be my next car! I just don't need the power of these newer GTS's so for me the T works but for other folk more is more.
