F430 oil consumption

What sort of oil consumption would be considered normal please?

My experience of all Ferrari engines (least all the models I've owned) is they use very little, be very careful in following the checking procedures, many stories of engines begin overfilled

Ferrari, in their infinite wisdom, decided to use a metal oil cap - so an oven mitt* is recommended for checking the oil while the engine is hot and running.

Yes, I have tried doing it without, yes, I have burnt my hand.

To answer the OP, oil consumption is negligible.

Check the level when the car is as hot as possible - the oil will increase in volume by over 1 litre from cold to hot. Due to the way the oil vapour is recirculated there is a real issue of damaging the MAF sensors if the oil is overfilled.

I also have a oven mitt in my tool box for this task...
