I noticed the other day that Hexagon have three GTS's....an owner posted a couple of day ago on the PCGB forum that they were looking to sell a manual GTS Cab. Yesterday they said they'd sold it to Hexagon "get as many bids as you want we'll beat it". I think we know where this is going....

On a full tank? From Hexagon in London? Err, Edinburgh?

Hexagon are one of several prestige dealers who have nice cars, but, keep stretching their asking prices to ever incredulous levels - to the extent that, yes, they are trying to influence the market.

But, in fairness, if there are punters with money to blow, then they are their lawful prey.

I disagree. I recon that GTS's are so amazing that they are worth at least £1m each, especially black manual ones with plastic (i.e. lightweight) dashboards biglaugh

I heard that the 'ultra rare' White PDK cars are going to be the next big thing with prices expected to top £100k within weeks.....LOL

Great cars with very stable values over the last 2 years which equals depreciation free motoring and that has to be a winner in my book.

If that happens, you'll be knocking on my door with the cash ready, right?

Thought it interesting that there were none in the OPC network for ages, then a couple came up at fairly low prices recently and vanished very quickly. If there is a shortage, as there appears to be, why don't OPCs ask more for them?

Guess the OPC may have under priced which is why they sold quickly? Either way, these are no GT3s but holding up well on value which equals cheap motoring so all good if you are buying now or already have one.

Not sure a 997 GTS is something an OPC really spends much time thinking about! They'll pick cars up through trade in's etc but probably not actively looking to stock them like say JZM or RPM might. I bought mine from an OPC in Feb..manual car with all the right spec except buckets seats. I was the first person to enquire about it and I got nearly £2k off the sticker price. I am sure they probably had £5k or more in it but they could definitely have got more for it, I wasn't going to haggle as I knew they'd only just got it in stock, it was well priced and would sell quickly yet unprompted they offered me a deal on it.

My guess is trade price is around £55k on a GTS. Maybe less based on where those recent OPC cars were priced.

All down to miles for the price.

as these are very usable cars it's not so easy to fine a 15k mile car now hence the £70k price if one pops up.

look at 40k mile cars and trade bids will be much much lower that £55k !

Hmmm I'm not so sure. In my experience it is unusual for any car dealer to not try to achieve as much as possible for any car. The only time I have managed to buy under market price (and I've done it a few times) is when a main dealer is short of car sales leading up to a quarter or year end.

Mine has 35k miles on and received an offer of £48k from OPC last week, following them contacting me via email stating they were seeking 911s (not specifically GTS).

Wow, what spec if your car ? That seems like a low bid.

That would have been my choice of the recently available cars. Congratulations, it's a great looking car and I love the Carrera Sport wheels.

Looks great Rob.

My only slightly negative comment would be the wheels. I just don't understand why anyone would un-check the centre-lock wheel box? They're super easy to remove given the right tool and they just set the car off. If I was after a 997 GTS then centre-locks would be a must have. I appreciate some people might prefer the 5 bolt option.

Mine has CLs but I would prefer 5-spokes.

I was also offered £48,000 by an OPC to buy outright. Wasn't really interested in selling - just responded to one of those "we want to buy your 997" emails.

Then recently I looked at p/ex for a Boxster Spyder and was offered £58,000 - this from an independent - so I guess there's no such thing as a definitive price. Decided to keep mine - one of the last registered, good spec, used as a second car so low mileage, manual gearbox, short shift, full leather / alcantara, sunroof etc. Of course, I'm under no illusions that it's still a depreciating asset, but it's not a bad way to spend money!
