997 GTS - Hexagon
Discussion
thing is a GTS is nothing like a GT3 just like my R is nothing like my GT4 and why I run both.
So while 997.2 GT3 are £115k that has no effect on 997.2 GTS prices imo.
esp when the 997.2 C2S is a very good car but again none for sale in manual and low miles !
yes they are selling at £70k now for ultra low miles, but £65k would be my personal top end, but then I have a R and a GT4 so the value in a swap to a GTS is nothing for me esp above £70k prices.
I love the 997.2 GTS though, a great car and the perfect sweet spot for many, the engine, the steering and the lower in gear speeds has a GTS licked over a GT3 for road use.
for track the GTS has no adjustments so it would have to be a project for any track day driver and then you might as well buy a 997.1 GT3.
some choice mods on a 997.2 GTS though could be one of Porsches best cars in the last 10 years for a drivers road car.
the R is my all time fave car from 65 cars I have owned and only 100 UK manuals, the 997 GTS is only about 85 manuals so 2 very rare driver focused road cars which many will never get the chance of trying/buying.

What would you get done ? Thinking of taking mine to CG to get the Geo done...might go for JZM though as they are only 20 mins away from home.
some good 2 way shocks maybe just the Ohlins road and track jobs, front adjustable LCA, monoball rear toe links with Adjustable Rear Link Kit, engine mounts maybe ! Bucket seats, and a nice geo to tie it all in, plus a set of better pads with more bite. o and if on N spec tyres some pilot SS or even cup 2's, or take a risk the new sport contact 6.maybe also a sharkwerks bypass pipe ;-).
All items have no effect on resale as only bolt on's which can be taken off and sold on.
I thought about selling my GT4 for a project like that as I love the x51 3.8 unit and lower in gear speeds on the GTS over the GT4.

How about a lightweight flywheel ? Was reading about that on Sharwerks website. They reckon it's a great thing to do on a manual car.

Absolutely, I had a 996.2 GT3 and loved it but didn't find much time to use it. I use my GTS just about every day.So while 997.2 GT3 are £115k that has no effect on 997.2 GTS prices imo.

If nothing else I would recommend getting the TPC Racing replacement PASM module. I'm in for service tomorrow and have swapped back to the Porsche PASM module, bloody awful it is, car understeers so much with it compared to the TPC one.Its five minutes to change and gives you three options, soft, hard, hard but with the outside rear hardening under turn in which reduces understeer again.
Do you map the TPC yourself ? I have greatly refined over the last six months and looking at the mapping data only mode 2 is anything like it should be, mode 1 is just a soft mode 2 and mode 3 is so far off it must have been a mistake. Also high speed mapping is not great imo with porsche having done a far better job of it.
You can try my mapping if you want its easy to put back if you dont like.
All set up on a GTS 2wd manual.
I will be selling my TPC as the car is gone now but offering to two friends with 997,s first refusal.

And with the silly prices for the 997.2 GT3 (my ideal car) and the 991 GT3 where do the 997.2 GTS owners go next without spending another £40-£50k???
Therein lies the problem. I don't see anywhere to go in the Porsche lineup even WITH the additional expenditure. How many miles do you think a 997 GTS is good for?
The 997 GTS referred to earlier in this thread which was on the PCGB Forum has apparently been traded in to an OPC in the last couple of days. Spec is fantastic and was apparently traded in for £55.5k....OPC told seller it would be put up for £63k. If it is it's the wrong price. Spec is (copied form PCGB thread)

I am guessing there is something we don't know. If that car is everyone's ideal spec it wouldn't have got near an OPC. Either that or there is some other shortcoming. All GTS Standard features

It was on the PCGB forum for a few weeks without much fuss, although I did note interest myself but had no response from seller before he traded it in Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
