Thanks gents - to me the absence of centre locks was a big plus. Appreciate that may not be to everyone's tastes but to me they just spell future heartache!

It has alcantara delete too, that one, doesn't it?

Yes it does, another plus to me as the car closes in on its fifth birthday.

It is in fabulous condition, all credit to Porsche Centre Bolton.

I was also offered £48,000 by an OPC to buy outright. Wasn't really interested in selling - just responded to one of those "we want to buy your 997" emails.

Then recently I looked at p/ex for a Boxster Spyder and was offered £58,000 - this from an independent - so I guess there's no such thing as a definitive price. Decided to keep mine - one of the last registered, good spec, used as a second car so low mileage, manual gearbox, short shift, full leather / alcantara, sunroof etc. Of course, I'm under no illusions that it's still a depreciating asset, but it's not a bad way to spend money!
Is your car GT Silver per chance ? I was in the JZM showroom about a month ago looking at the Boxster Spyder's they had in. Said they'd got very close to selling one to a bloke who wanted to trade in a manual GT Silver 997 GTS against it.

Interesting choice Rob, has their replaced the 981? If so, what are your initial impressions and comparisons?

Hi, it has replaced the 981.

I did 22k miles in my Cayman S PDK, it was fast, good looking, great on fuel, handled well,
reliable, sounded great and objectively hard to fault. Great car.

Initial impressions of the GTS are that it is everything I hoped it would be and more. To me, and it's only an opinion, it represents a high water mark, a great balance of history / technology. Not too sanitised. I love it.

Thanks Rob, is it manual or PDK? I went from a PDK 987 Cayman (the fabled Unicorn) to a manual 981 and as it's a fun car rather than a daily driver I appreciate the sense of occasion much more. I found the PDK overly efficient and a little sanitised and removed from a good manual box. Or did you just need the rear seats...;)

You've pretty much explained exactly why I prefer the 997 GTS over the 991s I had previously.

Thought it interesting that there were none in the OPC network for ages, then a couple came up at fairly low prices recently and vanished very quickly. If there is a shortage, as there appears to be, why don't OPCs ask more for them?
Guess the OPC may have under priced which is why they sold quickly? Either way, these are no GT3s but holding up well on value which equals cheap motoring so all good if you are buying now or already have one.
Not sure a 997 GTS is something an OPC really spends much time thinking about! They'll pick cars up through trade in's etc but probably not actively looking to stock them like say JZM or RPM might. I bought mine from an OPC in Feb..manual car with all the right spec except buckets seats. I was the first person to enquire about it and I got nearly £2k off the sticker price. I am sure they probably had £5k or more in it but they could definitely have got more for it, I wasn't going to haggle as I knew they'd only just got it in stock, it was well priced and would sell quickly yet unprompted they offered me a deal on it.
Hmmm I'm not so sure. In my experience it is unusual for any car dealer to not try to achieve as much as possible for any car. The only time I have managed to buy under market price (and I've done it a few times) is when a main dealer is short of car sales leading up to a quarter or year end.
I'd have 100% paid asking and based on the spec (high spec except PCCB's and Buckets) and the fact my car is a manual C2 I think it was cheap. It was £3k to £5k less than JZM, RPM and DK have all advertised and sold cars relatively quickly around the same3 time.

Feels to me like there's a two tier market. Specialists paying up for good spec cars and OPC's buying cars as they come across them. My car was traded in against a Golf R to another Sytner group dealer, the OPC I bought from is part of Sytner Group.

Anyway ...it's an utterly fantastic car which I can't ever see me selling. Perfect car for British roads. On B roads and country lanes you just don't need more power, mechanical grip, a stiffer chassis etc etc

No it's Meteor Grey but most likely the same one. JZM were very good, reduced the price of the Spyder to meet my budget, but in the end I just decided to keep the GTS. I was certainly impressed by JZM and would go back there if I was thinking of selling in the future.

The Boxster is a terrific car isn't it! I went in there for a mooch one day as my kids go to school about 10 mins away. Wanted to look at a GT4 as I'd seen one at the PEC a couple of weeks before, came away only having thoughts about the Boxster!

It's PDK.

I would have had either gearbox but this one came up locally. To be honest, (dare I confess this here?) I like the PDK, it suits it well. There's no coasting function and no start stop, so a bit old school compared the the Cayman but here is probably not the place to reignite a manual v PDK debate!

Rear seats were just the icing on the cake for me, it was fate - the car had my name on it!

Start-stop got right on my tits on the 991. It's not the job of the 911 to save the planet.

I think Brooklands OPC may have reading this thread, they had a 18k miles, 4 owner, white GTS for sale this week for £70k. It was on the website for three days & it's not on now, presumably sold.

Great cars & appear to be in great demand!

I saw it. Had the aero kit on it.

They are great cars. I've had mine for 15 months now and it still makes me smile, when by now I am usually bored with a car.

That's fully priced...I'll be staggered if that sells quickly. I'll also be happy...

It's down to miles prices can range fron £40k to £75k just on miles on the GTS now.]
the JZM car IS THE RIGHT GTS spec ie half Alcantara and with the leather dash option, the only spec I would go for and only 13k miles, the real GTS spec.

it's the right spec, the right gearbox, the right owners and 13k miles hence the price.
Add in Bose, xenons, sports crono and heated seats ,, perfect

They don't get any better than that car really.

I think you managed to also bag a great spec car, enjoy it, nothing else comes close in the Porsche range atm.
