I have never had a problem with the leather wheel on any car and always spec it on my Porsche GTs.
The leather Sport Design wheel is great and if my car was a DD that is what I would have....my car originally came with the leather multi function wheel which I don't like

All this talk about manual vs PDK - When I was looking for my GTS I had my ideal spec (preferred colours, alcantara, Bose, centre-locks, rear seats, painted tunnel & seat backs, leather dash...) but I really wasn't fussed on the gearbox! I've owned loads of sweet manual cars previously (Civic Type R, S2000, BMW 1M) and quite fancied a change so would have been happy with either. So I found my ideal car and yes its a PDK which I love especially in Sport+. I've driven a few manual GTS' since and equally they are lovely but they don't make me want to swap and that's the point - As drivers we all like changing gear but the PDK is an excellent box and certainly no reason not to buy a PDK GTS! Would like a 981 Spyder or 997.2 GT3 both of which are manual so maybe then I will miss the PDK...

Also do owners of the awesome M3 CSL ever crave the delightful DCT gearbox from the latest generation BMW's as lets be frank the SMG box in the CSL is a dinosaur in comparison but it doesn't make it any less desirable of a car does it...?!

I always keep a close eye on the 997 GTS market and I think Mr D/911R is probably correct in stating that there are certain cars that keep appearing through different dealers. The GTS market is fairly limited and I would speculate that a fair amount of cars are daily drivers so "higher mileage" examples.

When some of the lower mileage cars come up at a reasonable price then people/dealers are buying them to flip them for a quick profit. This is certainly what is happening in the GT3/GT4/RS market where you see 3 owner cars with a couple of thousand miles on the clock.

My car is fairly high mileage now (55k) so I'm not too fussed about putting miles on it, I bought the thing to drive it and will make the most of it!

I guess you either want to use only 1/2 you limbs or not, I think driving a PDK car is bloody dull. no right and wrong, that's what I feel, I loved my CSL, but only kept it 8 months, it took 3 months to master the joy of that box, but the thump in mode 5 was interesting :-), I like to use all 4 limbs and brain to drive though so the car was short lived. But at lease single clutch box's give the change gear effect so you still had to plan changes and use brain !

There are many PDK converts these days, that's life, but you cannot just say "certainly no reason not to buy a PDK GTS" because if you don't like automatics you just don't ,the car would hold my interest for about a 3 days.

PDK drivers get so lazy also, how ever good a driver one is, after owning an automatic the owners loose a lot of skill.
It's too easy and they fall into a rut, yes they start of saying paddles only, then in rush hour it's back in auto, then 4 months down the line full auto lol I see it time and time again. Going out in peoples car sluring into bends in 4th and changing down after the bend to 3rd, gives me the shivers !!

I have a PDK 991GTS and a manual JCW Mini. Are my skills what they used to be??

I have no idea, take me round Donny in the Automatic and I'll tell you :-)
do you heal & toe the JCW, having owned one I tended not to in that car, but I do in my R most of the time as a trail into bends a smooth downshift is key with RWD not to lock the rear esp in the wet and unbalance the car.

If I gave you the keys to my R or GT4 could you drive it like that ? I have no idea.

the JCW you just throw about, no skill needed really, and use the torque, I drove mine like a tt like I do the ford ST.
the cars need to be unbalanced imo and you just thrash the **** out of them, pretty skill less drive.

Manual has the draw for me because my daily driver has been a torque converter automatic (well since I sold my SMG equipped E46 M3 back in 2004) and I just really enjoy a) the short throw box mine has b) executing "heal and toe" gear changes and c) I think the GTS with the Powerkit engine just enjoys revs that little bit more than the standard Carrera S and I think it suits the car better because of that.

I see this on a daily basis whilst out with customers in their cars, a lot of people do forget the art of driving and being in the correct / ideal gear once they have a car fitted with a Auto (PDK, DCT, SMG, DSG etc). I still have a couple of manual cars that I use including a 1967 Fiat 500 which demands the skills of driver to select & execute good gear changes!

Blimey! You'd hope that someone whose gone to that effort of buying these kind of cars/is interested in it enough to have it fettled by ABP would have the vaguest clue how to drive their car.

Comedy gold.

I admit to having driven the GTS only once or twice in auto mode when stuck in motorway congestion. Other times it is always 'manuel' paddles. I have NEVER driven the 991 GT3 in auto mode and always use the paddles.

The GTS suits both PDK and 'manuel' spec equally as other OWNERS and those with proper experience of the GTS have already confirmed.

One point which hasn't been mentioned about the GTS PDK is that in its factory pre software upgrade guise, in certain conditions, the gearbox can be too ready to drop a gear. This is in contrast to the PDK S box in the GT3 where 'manuel' means 'manuel' at all times and this cannot be overidden by increasing throttle openings. Lack of creep similar to the Ferrari box is also preferred imo.

Leather and stitched PDK gear lever surround is also nice to have.....around £200 option when new. Leather centre console was £600.

The Unicorn...manual, 2wd, coupe, alcantara and leather dash biggrin It's not for sale and I bloody love it! Only gets used at weekends but when it does get used it gets used properly. I've done two sessions at PEC organised by PCGB which have been brilliant.

Chieb, its missing the Carbon rear section centre console. I'm sorry to have to tell you this but your car is worthless.

If you fancy crying into your pint, I'll meet you down the Fox & Pheasant in 30 mins?
