the JZM car IS THE RIGHT GTS spec ie half Alcantara and with the leather dash option, the only spec I would go for and only 13k miles, the real GTS spec.
it's the right spec, the right gearbox, the right owners and 13k miles hence the price.
Add in Bose, xenons, sports crono and heated seats ,, perfect
They don't get any better than that car really.
I think you managed to also bag a great spec car, enjoy it, nothing else comes close in the Porsche range atm.
All good points. Only car I'd even think about selling mine for is a Boxster Spyder at the moment and even then I am not sure I would.the JZM car IS THE RIGHT GTS spec ie half Alcantara and with the leather dash option, the only spec I would go for and only 13k miles, the real GTS spec.

How strange I have the exact same sentiment the spyder has turned my head also. Likewise Im not sure.
Appreciate 70k is a chunk of money, however what would owners replace thier cars with gir the same money if they sold ?
I've been offered very good money for mine (4GTS) and was tempted, but honestly couldn't figure what yo replace it with that didn't involve throwing another 30k+ into the mix.

Your first point is the nub of the problem. I've been offered very good money for mine (4GTS) and was tempted, but honestly couldn't figure what yo replace it with that didn't involve throwing another 30k+ into the mix.
I cannot see anything in the Porsche range that is as good and as well suited to my requirement as a 997 GTS, at any price. Which worries me a little bit quite honestly because I've driven Porsches for years and I can see no upgrade path. I genuinely think Porsche has lost the plot with the 991.

Very good point. Only thing that jumps out at me that's Porsche is a GT3 (991), but for the money they're still at I'd seriously struggle to not buy a 12C. The 12C is probably the only thing I'd consider as a replacement, but very happy to stick with the GTS at the moment. Totally pointless car if you would want to do any mileage in it like a long-distance Euro trip. Barchetta Boy on here had one. We took it to the Ring for a track day. Lovely engine, lovely box, lovely design touches. Nice driving experience too. BUT... Noisy at any speed, and getting unpleasant at anything over 80mph. For a short blat, yes, for sure it is exhilarating, but very tiresome on a 4hr journey from Calais to Nurburg. There was no way I would have been happy to drive this thing to the South of France or to the Alps. The GTS on the other hand looks stunning - my neighbor has had a black Cabrio PDK from new in 2011, sounds good and does everything well. The Spyder is a one trick pony sadly...
I am awaiting Demon to tell me I know nothing about Coxsters and how wrong the gearing on my GT3 is...
lol one trick pony is good if a weekend car and you want that trick, Spyders always a 2nd or 3rd car in the stable, but I took mine to Spa and it was great, one wears ear plugs :-)
GTS is a great car, one of Porsche best but alas not good enough for a 2nd car for fun.
If one only wants one great car then at £45k the R still wins and for £65k the GTS wins. pair one of those with a 987.2 Spyder for fun or a Lotus 250cup and all is good.

Hah. My GTS is a second car and almost never sees a motorway....typical use is for an hour or two at a time on B roads or country lanes. Can't see it being used for European jaunts etc as I have two young kids and my European trips are four up with the ski gear in our X5.
So what you both said in a roundabout way is trade it for a Boxster Spyder! The fact it has extra seats does mean at the margin it gets used a bit more as I can take both kids out in it.
Still can't see me selling it but I really, really like the Spyder.

Pay what you are happy with
PDK Er nope
C4 Er nope
Cab Er nope
The big money cars are C2 manual coupes.
If I wanted a automatic I would move onto the gen 2 PDK cars in a 991 which are light years ahead for an auto over gen 1 PDK.
Don't see the point paying big money on that sort of spec just because it's a GTS , but that's just me.

Whilst I agree the 991 PDK moves the game on and some of the other tech is useful, the 991 as a package is not as good a car as the 997 IMHO. Which probably explains why there are no 997 GTSs about.

you don't have to wait long for a PDK car to come up, while finding a manual is rocking horse st. gen 1 PDK does really feel old over the new cars, the point in buying a GTS imo is for the full older stering feel and "interaction", not buying an outdated Automatic ! at the daft prices the GTS is !Whilst I agree the 991 PDK moves the game on and some of the other tech is useful, the 991 as a package is not as good a car as the 997 IMHO. when you say not as good a package, most people like newer cars and the 991 GTS is a very nice car, going older is ok if you go manual, but I would take a 991 PDK GTS every time over a PDK 997 GTS.

The car has the plastic dash which some people don't like, the leather dash definitely lifts the interior and you also get a bit more alcantara with it (glove box). Photo of my car's interior below which does have it.
Maybe I am being harsh with £60k tops but it's not a £65k car even at an OPC. You can always get an official Porsche warranty but would have to pay for it. It's not a spec of car you should have to pay up for. Trade bid would be mid £50k's absolute max, an OPC would not pay much over book for that car.
