Help needed: purchase of Lambo Diablo SV
Discussion
Hi guys.
Im popping over as Im in the process of bidding on this car 99SV (MY98):
http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=...
Few questions I hope you guys can help with:
I know that its an Affolter car and subsequently has the Affolter wing as well.
-Does anyone know this car?
- What are the differences between 98 SV and 99 SV?
I am preparing a bid, based if its passes a PPI.
-Anyone any idea how best to do the PPI? The car is located in Paris.
Should I contact Lamborghini in Paris or should I fly in a specialist? I'm not familiar with Lambos so any tips are appreciated.
- Is there anything you can see on the car that seems odd? I know it are the incorrect wheels, it has the VT 6.0 wheels, im not too worried about that but if anything else pops up please let me know.
- Is there a comprehensive list of specifical technical niggles I need to be aware of. I read a few purchase guides, so aware of rust etc.
Thanks for your input. Looking forward to buying my first Lambo!
Regards

I'm not sure what this is - MY99 headlights, but MY98 dash - so I suspect that's Affolter at work.
however, Affolter was also the first one to use the MY99 dash back in 96, so a little strange there.
Wheels are 6.0 (MY2000)
correct SV filler cap, so it is an SV, and a pain to fill up without spilling fuel at certain garages.
VVT engine was in both 98 and 99 cars
Personally I'd suggest Mike Pullen at Carrera Sport as the best guy to PPI it.
try searching for the last 8 digits of the VIN on the web - try lp112.com for a start

I have been intrigued by this car - I sold a '98 SV earlier this year so have been watching the market for a while.
It seems to be priced quite low, but then is it low enough considering:
Horrible Affolter rear spoiler - I presume by the way it looks to be attached is going to make it difficult to return back to stock.
Wrong wheels - why ?
Been for sale for quite a while even at this price - why?
I wouldn't be overly concerned by the relatively high miles.
Panel fit on these cars can quite often be less than perfect and not necessarily a sign of accident / damage.
The Mike Pullen recommendation is spot on.
Good luck!

guys thanks
I have decided not to move forward with the car based just on the fact that its a Affolter car which has been too modified for my taste. Will continue looking for a 99 SV as I like the fixed headlight look better.
you realise what your after is a very small market ? their were only 9 RHD MY99 SVs imported officially into the UK, of circa 100 European MY99 (SV, VT, VT Roadsters) Diablos built.I have decided not to move forward with the car based just on the fact that its a Affolter car which has been too modified for my taste. Will continue looking for a 99 SV as I like the fixed headlight look better.
There are two of the 9 UK RHD ones for sale at the moment.. neither are cheap.
