I think your 2nd option is just about OK price wise but you may need to settle for a higher mileage car. I too am on the lookout, slightly different car but not far off and i'm struggling to find what I want.

I find dealer prices are going a bit crazy but always found they will negotiate with you if you try. Private sellers seem to set a price and stick to it, there are many cars that have been on sale for many months at the same price.

I'm looking for a 2011 3.4 manual, low miles and 1 owner if possible. A few toys would be nice but not essential. I've no idea about a list but it's pretty easy to work it out by looking at what cars for sale have.

You appear to be monitoring the most popular ones, Top Marques is worth a look too.

Ffffaster, I feel your frustration, I'm looking too at the moment and really struggling, I'm looking for a 987.1 3.4, I know they are a little more risky in terms of scoring but I cant justify paying more for a weekend toy.

There seem to be lots of overpriced 3.2s around, I can't find a decent sensible mileage 3.4 manual that's been looked after as I would like for around £15K.

Being in the North East doesn't seem to be helping me much either.....

That is more than just damage to the door. It extends to the sill and quarter panel too.

OR

2. 2009/2010 3.4 Boxster S. I'm prepared to spend up to £20,000 on one of these, but I'm really struggling to find a car with under 40,000 miles or at all really.

Am I being unrealistice with price?
I've recently bought just that car, but had to pay slightly more. Assuming that you want a manual and are at all bothered about spec or colour you are left with a pretty small pool of cars. If you want a good service history as well, in all probability almost all will be appearing for sale at Porsche specialists rather than anywhere else, with the premium (and reassurance) that comes with.

Thanks guy, the car has been repaired already and the chap selling it has had the car for a couple of years already. I would have the car checked before I bought, but what do we think the "right" price is for this car given the expertise on the forum. Just to reiterate, those pictures are pre-repair from a couple of years ago.

I think you'll need to provide more details on year and specification.

Thanks Cmoose, that all makes very good sense. I think, like you I'd need to be at close to 50% of the value.

Vlad, its a 2009 car with 38,000 miles. 3.4 S with PDK. Satnav, heated seats and Bose amongst the usual spec. Looks like extended leather too. However, no heated seats that I can see from the interior panel.

Good spec. As has been said if it's a good price and a long termer, why not.

Well, I'll give it a try but I don't think he'll accept the £13,000-£14,000 that I'm going to offer him! laugh

Jokes aside, what you guys have said is backing up the research I've been doing, so it is probably a fair offer given the seller has priced it at about £18,000.
