Does anybody use a GoPro with their AM, I am thinking of getting one but worried about mounting it?
I obviously don't want want to ruin the paintwork, has anybody had any issues with the suction mount?

Any comments gratefully received....within reason of course!!

Cheers,
Geoff.

Yes, I use a GoPro.

No problems with the sucker mount. Obviously when mounting externally, the paintwork must be spotless.

When mounting externally, you will have to consider the microphone and wind noise. Even with a microphone wind sock, I was unable to obtain clear sound.

Mounting on the inside of the passenger window glass, or (if coupe) inside of rear window / tailgate glass works quite well. Using a long cable for a microphone in the boot, is the best place for a clear exhaust sound.

Need to use a tablet PC, for viewfinder and for control of the camera start / stop.

Thanks for the info Jon, just seen some YouTube footage of some GoPro "accidents" which is worrying me a bit.

I did a clip with my GoPro with my V8V few years ago. Stayed on no problems but just as others said, ensure area is clean.

I've used a suction mount with mine before and it was fine. I would highly recommend the official GoPro suction mount though - I did a lot of research before I got mine and some of the cheaper unofficial ones had terrible reviews whilst everyone seemed to think the proper one was really solid. I used mine at fairly high speed and over some rough surfaces and it didn't move an inch.

I've got a Volante and have mounted it centered just behind the rear seats. Nice spot but not forward enough. Want to see road in front. Girls in back seat block it a bit too. See clip.

Have tried different places including on the wind block with the top down but vibrates too much. Want a good view of the road and dash. Going to buy a helmet to mount the camera to when I want some good footage. Something like this.

Have tried the microphone in back by the license plate and also mounted under the car by the exhaust. I think in the boot will be my next try.

I use a gopro hero session - the small one - on my db9 volante with the go pro suction mount. Put it on the back top corner of the boot. Works fine but need to experiment with positioning it to avoid excessive wind noise, so to speak..

Don't think I've ever seen real people in the back seats of a DB9 before! Well done, proof that it is possible wink

I've used the GoPro suction mount a lot on my car and not had an issue until a couple of weeks back when it just dropped off. Thankfully it was mounted inside by the rear view mirror at the time so no damage done. Probably my fault from not having fitted it properly, it it gets fiddly up behind the mirror.

The GoPro is great for quality footage but the software is so unstable, it seems to freeze every time I use it but that might be my laptop of course. I've got a Revl Arc on order if it ever appears.

cheers,
