Mercury Cougar Help
Discussion
Hey Guys and Gals i am looking to put a Chevy ls3 in my 2000 Cougar. i am already going to be doing a drive train conversion and such i just need to know if it is possible and where would i go online to order parts to make such a conversion possible. The reason why i ask is because i watched a guy put an ls3 in a Miada and he had an LSx drivetrain swap kit and i was curious if there was a generic version of said kit that i could use to make the conversion smoother? thank you for your input.
Mercury Cougar sounds like the wrong side of the world for most on this forum.

The Cougar is front wheel drive, so the engine has to be fitted transversely. This means you will need a transaxle that can be mated to the LS3 that is strong enough and since the Ford V6 is already a tight squeeze under the bonnet (hood) I think will have a significant challenge to fit the V8 and a heavy duty transaxle within the engine bay. You'll then need to figure out exhaust manifolds (headers), ECU, driveshafts etc.
This would be a major project, and if I'm honest probably not one that deserves the amount of effort and $$$ it would require.
