Good to hear you are enjoying it.
My other half has a 2.7 987.1 Boxster too, she loves it, and I have to say when I drive it has great chassis/engine balance. A classic Porsche in years to come.

That's a really great post, literally a week away from shopping for a 987 so a really useful insight. There are so many horror stories around it does make you question your choice sometimes but I am pretty sure it's for me. Looked at your other post to see who the service plan was with - way away from me but certainly worth considering for peace of mind I think.

Get some pics of yours up, looks great in your profile pic.

Did your car have many options - anything you would recommend?

The issues of IMS and scored bores that are like legend here are quite rare in the first instance and impact on the 2.7 engine much less than the others.

Glad you're enjoying it.

Good to know my post has helped in some way.
Off the top of my head mine came with the 19" Carerra S wheels, carbon trim(bit naff) Bose stereo-a quirk I've seen on a few radio knobs is they appear to have melted and become sticky, also the heater controls. As far as the radio knob is concerned,a half hour soak in hot soapy water and the residue can be scrubbed off, saved me buying a new part.
The wheels are a pig to clean so I will get some decent cleaner,I've seen some recommendations online so will go with that product.
Hope you find the car you are looking for,for the money they are a no brainer at the moment.I intend to keep mine for a while and I'll be interested to see where they go value wise as I've noticed first gen Caymans appear to be creeping up in value, albeit at a glacial rate.
Having trouble uploading a couple of photos, will try again in a separate post.

Yeah it's been helpful, in fact I will message you shortly about something you mentioned above.

Highly recommend Bilberry wheel cleaner - superb spray on and spray off formula.

Thanks for tip on radio knobs!

I think it's a wise place to put money at the moment, with 986 prices remaining strong it obviously helps 987 to stay up.

Exciting times!!

I bought a mint 2005 987 Boxster S three years ago and it has been nothing but epic. No issues whatsoever and I've had many a great drive in it with the Porsche Club. Bought it with 12k on the clock and it used as a weekend car with now 25k on it. I can't honestly see what I would replace it with.

I bought a 2005 2.7 987 last November, I'd just sold a TVR Griffith that I'd had for 13 years, I got the Boxster as an interim before getting a Gen 2 997 911, I have been absolutely blown away by the performance and quality, so much so that the 911 purchase is on hold for now. I'd always had a view that they were second rate Porsches and I didn't quite see why anyone would buy one, I got that completely wrong and I couldn't recommend highly them enough.
