Did the PCGB evening track day at Brands yesterday and got flagged on my first session for noise

(with sport off I might ad) test sticker taken off and not let out again. This was a 102 day and I got 98 static at the noise test. Last week I did a 98 day at Blyton Park and had no trouble at all while others were being flagged. It doesn't make sense......

A few others had the same treatment including a GT4

Noise is becoming a real issue at Brands Indy as well as GP. MSV are under a lot of pressue from the local council. Could spell the death knell for one of europe's best circuits. A real tragedy.

But why do people live near a race track and complain about noise(im assuming its residents pushing for this)?

Guessing I should cancel my Brands day (in a GT4) in August then. One of my favourite circuits to race at but not trawling down there to be thrown off...

If it's a GP day, you almost certainly wont get on

I've written off Brands - both noise restrictions and draconian treatment of even the slightest amount of wheels on grass...(of course it is not the fastest way around the circuit but can happen from time to time)

Indy 105 Static and 92 drive by - was hoping that the high static indicated that the on track meters were miles away from the circuit hence the low drive by. Maybe not!

They do cheaper evenings with low noise limit, when they have had a day with high noise limit. I was court out last week for the first time after doing about 10 evenings over the last year.

Houses possibly cheaper and the day that people view, the track might not be in operation so cant tell how noisy it is. Plus its not a regular occurrence so people dont get used to it as such and just see it as a nuisance etc.

Its like people who move next to an airport and complain about the noise

While I have sympathy with car drivers, the fact is that noise has been an issue at Brands for at least 15 years to my knowledge (and it isn't the only track so impacted). So it does seem to me that manufacturers that sell cars with track day credentials ought at least to provide appropriate silencers (in this country).

T'was Me in the GT4, 102.5 static, did 1 lap then black flagged along with a few other unlucky fellows. Exhaust button was off.

The worst thing is I was told by a Marshall that Brands used to own the land to the rear of the gp circuit where the houses are built but had to sell it off for development due to financial reasons. Think he said this was back in the 70,s or early 80's but not sure how trus that is.

Are test days at Brands any better? May be an idea; get your race license and you don't have the other silly rules either.

Also, believe you're allowed a passenger in the car at test days now.

I was thrown off after just the one session a few weeks ago and I drive a 981 2.7 with sport exhaust. The Sport button and exhaust were off!

I did beg my way back on after they threw my scrutineering sticker off the car but had to change gear at 4000rpm which kind of made the day pointless and me as a serious road block when on the straights.

No way will I be doing Brands again. I'm aware however that most other tracks are 98db's, has anyone else suffered with the 981 at other circuits?

Same sound limits and passengers have to have instructor licences.

Most tracks give you a warning and on second time you're off. It's really out of order of Brands to just chuck you off 1st strike. I offered to short shift but they were not having it.

I really can't see see how I was tripping the drive by meter on a 102 day with my PSE off. Had a warning once at Goodwood (very strict on noise) on a 105 with PSE on, turned it off and no problems. Castle Combe a few months ago at 100 no probs......

There are some good value days at Bedford over the next few months I quite fancy attending, anyone been in their 98 with problems?

Also is a car equipped with sport exhaust turned off any louder than a car without PSE?
