997 Carrera 3.6 Mods
Discussion
Hi guys
Quick couple of questions if anyone can kindly assist. I've got a 2005 Carrera 3.6 and would like thoughts on the below mods and where best to source them:
- single mass flywheel (want that mechanical chattering noise when idling)
- short Cup gear ratios - what exactly do I need?
Many thanks
Peter

Aasco make the lwfw that works in the 996 and 997 C2 cars. Fairly readily available and a common enough mod so easy enough to get feedback etc once you know what it is you need.
On the gears, you should talk to GT gears or BGB motorsports about options. GT made a bunch of gears for BGB's Cayman race car so will have the info on the options you can fit in. If there's a solution, GT and BGB will know about it. The C2 isn't like the GT3 where there's a Porsche catalog full of cogs available for putting in. You will need to reach a bit further out to try and make something happen. GT is no longer doing retail sales but is usually helpful with info and pointing you to someone local for the sales side.
Dont neglect the LSD either if you are going to the trouble of a regear. Again the above will be able to tell you everything you need to know.

Fantastic, thank you both, very helpful. I wasn't aware it was more involved doing the gearing on non-GT3. I was very fortunate to own a 997 GT3 RS a few years back and it had the shorter cup ratios and compared to my C2 daily, its quite funny. I can literally read a page of PH forum thread before I need to change up from 3rd to 4th : ) ah yes good point also re the LSD, cheers
