Is it OK to have a headlight polished? Got a couple of scratches on one of mine and wondering whether to have them professionally polished out?
What are the downsides?

thanks!

Pending on cost from having them done at a bodyshop, you could consider doing it yourself using something like Meguiar's Headlight Restoration Kit (available from Halfords** for about £20-25) I used this on my Porsche, as my lamps were scratched to buggery and were looking hazy. I was going to replace both lamps, it took me about 20-30 minutes and they looked like new.

If considering the DIY route or not, it would also be worth asking the question if the lights are coated with a UV protection

Thanks guys - someone else is paying (their fault) so not going to go down the DIY route!

Anyone know if they are coated with a UV protection agent?!

2009 DB9 - Mine had some scratches. Went the do it yourself but in doing so I could see there was some layer of protection on there. They look fine now but if you look closely you can see where I polished off the protective layer.
Be interested to hear how to reapply it. Is there a clear UV spray that would work?

I looked into this for my old BMW530i which had cloudy front lights. This came recommended as a suitable UV spray to go on top after you've got the scratch out.
