Thinking of using one for work - spreadsheet work etc

They do 25/29/34 inchers. Current screen is 23" "normal" sized

Don't want to buy something daft and regret it :-)

Nothing daft about bigger screens, in this instance bigger is always better.

I've got the LG 29UM67, the 29" version with 2560x1080 resolution. As a gaming and desktop PC screen it's lovely, crisp, clear, bright picture with vibrant colours. It supports Freesync so if you have a supported AMD graphics card you can use that for smoother gameplay, although it only supports a fairly limited refresh range.

If watching regular 1080p videos on it you'll get black borders either side but I don't really so that's not an issue for me. I'd definitely recommend it though.

Funnily enough I've just today upgraded to a Dell 34" ultra-wide (3440x1440). Coming from a 24" 1920x1200 screen, the extra vertical space is virtually unnoticeable, but by golly it's awfully wide. I'm still getting used to it (2 hours in!) and doubtless in a few weeks time it'll feel just as cramped as everything always does when you've been using it for a while - but right now all my windows feel a little lost. It's definitely a productivity booster though being able to have effectively two full-screen windows side-by-side.

I've not tried any games yet, but I may have to fire up a few this evening just for research purposes. Just hoping that my two-month-old GTX980 is man enough for the job as I don't think I'll get a GTX1080 past the wife without a cripplingly expensive shoe-shopping trip to compensate.

Bigger screens are a welcome addition but too big can get annoying. I purchased a 25" LG and am perfectly happy with the size and money I paid for it. It also doesn't look too out of place on my desk.

Thanks to this thread I've just ordered an LG 34UM68

Only 2560x1080 but it was nice and cheap.

We have these at work. The built in speaker keeps randomly making white noise. You mute it and its fine for a while, then it happens again.

I'm not sure I've done the right thing. I've gone from 2 x 24" 1920x1080 screens to 1 x 34" 2560x1080, so I'm actually losing 1.3 million pixels!

I used the new 34UM68 for half a day on Friday so I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

I suppose I could also hook up one of the old 24" 1080p screens as well.

If I don't like it I'll send it back and get a higher resolution version.

Most of the higher dpi 34" ultra wides are 3550x1440, 5mp, same pixel density as my 27" but an extra thousand on the side.

mates just bought one , great looking monitors.

I have a pair of these: https://www.shop.bt.com/products/acer-cb271hk-27--... on the way, replacing a pair of 24" 1080p screens. Should be a nice upgrade!

I've bought one from Iiyama, it's exactly the same height as my 27" with the same vertical res, as you say.

I think it's great and it even removes the need for two monitors, but I like the workspace. Having a 27" and a 34" side by side means you'll be moving around though smile.

This website is a simple but great tool:
