For you guys thinking of running a 997 cup at track days. This is some in car footage from an Excellent Gold track day on Monday. The car is running Old Pirellis to keep the ultimate pace down. An idea of the speeds and fun achievable for nowhere near the cost of a GT4 let alone a 991 GT3.

gives me a headache !

Sorry but I love your cars and what you do, but I just don't get owning this car.

I'll keep my eye out for the 997 GT3 mods more ;-)

And I thought there was a lot of traffic here in London !!!!

Saving the engine and tyres Old Thing. No naughtiness - all on exit.

Looks like fun indeed. And good to see so many GT4s taking to the track.

Thanks for sharing, lots of traffic to contend with. What sort of lap times can a 997.1 Cup car achieve around the GP circuit without traffic?
Also would you mind lower the camera so we can see more of the track please?biglaugh

It would be a lot quicker on Michelins. After a few cycles the Pirellis have so little grip that you need to short shift on exit.

Looked like good fun to me! Been on FAR busier track sessions than that.

Out of interest what sort of weight are the 997 Cup cars? How much power are they putting out too?

That looked very entertaining Steve. 1100kg and 450bhp at a guess

997.1 is about 1180kg and 415 bhp. These days it's a little light in power but quite enough to provide decent fun. Not road legal but pretty practical to run. No more expensive than a GT3/4.

Nice Old bus. This is the view of a 997.1 from the driver's perspective (I have the same steering wheel logo on every race car that I drive by the way).

I love it! When do you use the foot clutch? To take off and change down? Do you have to heel & toe to change down or does the ECU rev-match?

Yep. You need to heal toe to change down. Flat upshifts. There are rev matching devices available and a paddle shift system that can be retro fitted for about £5K
