My sister has several websites, and has said she will give me hosting.

What easy web site building program?

Don't want flash for now.
Just want to make 1 front page with about 10 buttons, which go to sub pages.

On each of the sub pages I will have a title, then a few images of vehicles, and a caption about each vehicle.

So totally about 20 images

For what you want, I would use squarespace, the layout will all be done for you (this is the hard part) and you can just add some content. Your sister won't be able to host it for you but it will cost very little and is easy to use.

Alternatively look at wordpress. Setting up a self-hosted site fairly difficult, and you will require some linux knowledge and since you said the word 'program' I'm guessing you're not very experienced at this.

Squarespace is good for beautiful websites.

If you want cheap and acceptable, i.e. not great quality, try Wix.

As above, take a look at SquareSpace.

Get the best images/pictures you can even if you have to pay for them from istockphoto or somewhere. Nothing kills first impressions as well as bad photos.

You said you don't want Flash for now - seriously, please don't use it ever.

$12 a month for squarespace???

He owns the domain and has free hosting, why would he pay $12 a month unless i am missing something?

Much easier for your sister to throw wordpress at whatever directory your website will live on in her space, then you can use whatever theme you want and customise it really easy.

Given the post count I did wonder if this was a wind up!

I agree with you, but depending on what 'has hosting' means, 'throwing wordpress at' might be beyond the available capabilities.

Where as squarespace is pretty and easy and 4 clicks of a mouse.

And OP, if you literally meant 'adobe flash', rather than 'pretty', please pretend the former never existed.

Wordpress is great but in my view you need to have a good idea of what you're doing with it especially with regards to plugins and security. You can get a simple hosting package for only a couple of £s per month. Many give you the facility to install Wordpress at the click of a button.

All depends on time/experience/willingness to learn

I can build you a website that has what you have listed and it will be done for free, I will then show you how to edit/update it

This is what she said also,

Don't pay more money, she has several websites, with quite enough hosting space.

I will also have a look at Squarespace, but 150.00 a year isn't cheap

thanks all.
