Just got my weekly JZM sales update e-mail...notice that this http://www.jzmporsche.com/porsche-for-sale/911/997... Gen II 997 GT3 CS for three months now. Originally advertised at £116,900. I don't know the spec of these as well as a lot on here but it looks pretty good to me? And doesn't look stupidly priced in the context of the market and one of the few CS's on the market. Maybe it's a car with history ?
I know what you're saying, but I just keep looking at it as a 6yr old car that's above list price.... I think I'm going through one of them 'don't understand the market' modes biggrin

Like you Phooey, my GT4 is on th away out after 3900 miles. GTS next but can't decide between Carmine, GT silver or Black! The issue with black is that it just very bloody black...

There's not a great deal of choice out there atm. Severe lack of interestingly spec'd cars...

It's because cars like that will never be made again. It's not quaint like say an XK120, it's a super sharp driving tool that rewards the patient and doesn't wipe the arse of the lazy.

What have GT3 RS's been changing hands at ?

Obviously asking prices are like houses, just asking prices...Presumably 'brokerages' (dealers) compete for the business of selling these cars in a similar way to estate agencies ? They will talk up values and tell the owner that they have a number of people looking for just the type of car and spec that they are offering and would talk up values.

what harm would it do to any dealer / broker to have a shiny RS sitting in the showroom without a penny outlayed ?? it'll get people thru the door all day long...

I reckon there will be a lot of owners selling wishing that they had taken an offer that they received only a couple of months back , and holding out for longer to perhaps sadly, to get less.

Something is only worth what someone's...........blah blah...

You may be lucky and find the one in a thousand buyer ...again like the house.... but the cars are largely similar , so less so..

I have to laugh though , at people being worried about people talking down prices. Come on !

My angle - looking for a GT3 of some sort.

Most RS ever today 14 -15 cars and lower prices, as the poster said I bet some peoples turned down offers which would be a dream price today.

If you don't mind the miles and when as 20k miles in 6 years ever been high you can buy one at £155k

some cars have been for sale 8 months +

Very tricky market and people don't buy cars at massive overs in a falling market.

I would love one but not sure what price I would pay for one as prices will only keep dropping coming upto winter.
Maybe we might see cars at £145k which will have a knock on effect on all GT3's

Normal gens 2 are dropping and not selling either.

I think a lot of people 600 odd Infact went and bought a new GT4 at £70k where once they would buy a GT3 and now with 1000's of GT3 and GT4 there are not enough buyers left for over priced cars !

Not sure about the GT4 making much difference at all but agree with the 'wait until winter' philosophy.
Thats what i'd be doing if I were a buyer.

Is this a total of OPC, Auto Trader and Pistonheads etc?

Think I might have to advertise the GTS. 7.2 RS is where I want to be.

Thanks for your views gents (?!).

Dr. S / Steve Rance. How do you mean " they aren't making cars like this anymore"? I thought a new version of the GT3 and the RS was on its way in 12 to 18 months or so ? Who knows, there may be a manual and an automatic version as the 911R drew a lot of admirers.....

What makes the 7.2RS special is more than just the manual gear change.

Cars that will never stop teaching their owners how to drive.

The best way to find out what a gen2 RS would cost is to go and buy one. Then one would know exactly and can stop speculating, same for most things really. No one on here can tell you what to pay. They may say what they would pay or what they would sell for but actually i dont see any of that here because, honestly, who's going to show their hand on a car forum...

If anyone does this can they come back and we can talk about driving?

997 1-2 cup are the same - no abs and adj bias. It's quicker if you use it to work for you - even in the wet. You just need to learn it. Lots of nice little tricks. Give me a call if you want to discuss

The 4.0 rs coming up at Silverstone has an estimate of 200k-220k, granted its LHD but the gap is definitely closing on these things, also a couple of gen 1's listed this morning with more reasonable process.

Will be interesting to see where these have settled in 6 months time, i think we have passed the peak

TTdan. Sorry but i cant really talk much about driving the gt3 as the one i was foing to buy 8 years (!) Ago had been pranged. I'm now in the narket for one, just not at any internet bubble/ kings clothes prices.

I thought this thread was about prices more than actual driving....

Are you selling one then ?

Seems there's some renewed interest, slightly surprised at this given had been a lot of stock around last few months unless a lot cleared or back off sale?

It's interesting that that one sold so quickly when there are others in the classifieds that have been on the market for ages - like the white/red 997.2RS for £159,950.
