Looking to head out on the bikes on Tuesday morning to head for a breakfast stop somewhere. Not particularly fussed by the usual Box Hill/Ryka's etc. Anyone got any decent suggestions for a decent, interesting breakfast stop? By the coast would be good but not essential. Could be Kent, Sussex, Essex, generally an hour or so from Maidstone.

TIA.

Heading sarf of Maidstone I quite like The Knoxbridge Cafe on the A229 south of Staplehurst. OK it's not an hour away but it's spotlessly clean, has ample parking behind it and the food is freshly cooked and piping hot. Only disadvantage is that you can wait an hour for food if they are chokka.

The Route1066 Cafe on the A21 can be good. If they are busy they will cook up all the breakfast items and place them under a hot lamp which can mean so-so food. If you go when they are quiet or order non-breakfast then it is better as it will be cooked to order.

There's a nice friendly cafe in St Leonards called The Express Grill or Cafe Express. On the A21 Sedlescombe Road opposite the BP garage. Small place but decent grub. The sausages are thechuck in the fryer ones which Mrs V and The Vikingettes like, but aren't artisan enough for me.
