My dad has a 2011 (ish) Audi A8 and the mirrors fold when the car is locked. However he claims there's no way to get the mirrors to fold from inside the car to ease parking or in narrow streets.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I don't live near him but I'd like to help if I can.

Is there a knob on his mirror adjustment that he can turn to fold them in? I think there would be!

Turn the mirror adjuster knob.

Assuming its like every other Audi with powerfold mirrors, turn the mirror control knob on the door trim so the dot points backwards.

I have a feeling it only works below certain speeds.

Thanks for the pictures guys, I'll send them over. I'd be surprised if it's that simple but then he is getting on a bit! ;-)

They won't fold if the car is moving either as a "safety" issue so you have to come to a complete stop, then turn the switch, before they'll fold. It's a stupid idea and yet another way of "H&S thinking" actually making it worse.

I have a 2014 A8 - I think they will retract as long as you are doing less than 30mph or so.

I suppose they think you won't be going down narrow gaps at 70mph. Probably sensible, but still, where is the fun in driving these days?

Yeah they do fold when moving but only at low-ish speeds. Useful when you're going through a tight gap!

So apparently the control is the other way up and the 'folded' setting isn't marked but it's working. Thanks!
