Silicon removal
Discussion
I found that the silicone just pulled off in a string once I got an edge lifted.
I have no idea whether the solvent will damage the paint, but be aware that there is a fair old gap around the MC reservoir and it's deep. How you would get the solvent out of that afterwards I have no idea.

I haven't tried that, I just used wd40 and kept rubbing, it's not perfect though and takes some time.
Because I needed to access it again shortly after resealing it all neatly I slid a sharp blade in to make a neat cut through the Sikaflex and used Vaseline to seal between the two halves of the seal when I refitted it, I am hopeful this will create a waterproof joint and allow me to open it up easily whenever I want, but I haven't got it wet since to try it out.

Would a neoprene type seal be any good for this and do away with the silicone?
That is what I have done, no silicon just 2 rubber seals one on the body work around the aperture of the reservoir and one bonded around the cover, located by allen screws, I bonded in 3 lock nuts where the screws normally locate the cover, so the cover could be screwed down forcing the 2 rubbers to touch and create a seal. I have no pictures unfortunately as I am away from my car for 3 years !!!!!portzi said:

+1 and no issues. I used well nuts as opposed to bonding but you get the picture I thought that this was a really neat solution to doing away with a silicone seal....
