What is the "Showdown" and why is it being billed as a "decider" when there is still two rounds to come after it?

The Showdown

From this point on, the top six riders in the championship standings (only) become the 'Title Fighters' for the final three events. Each Title Fighter begins The Showdown with 500 points, plus additional points for each podium position they obtained in the Main Season: 5 for a win, 3 for a second, and 1 for a third.

The standard points scoring format from the Main Season then continues for The Showdown, with all points scores from the final seven races counting.

The Oulton races are the last before the Showdown, so those that stand a chance of getting in the top six will be doing their damndest to get in there.

And there are quite a few in with a shot at taking the last couple of places.

Shakey is still going to win the title though.

Three races at Oulton so possible in theory. Too little too late I could imagine though.

I hope he does , am with that team for the weekend with a very good friend known to many on here, who invited me along with him having won a charity bidding war for the two places available - donated ( and hosted by) by Martin Halsall of Halsall Bennetts Suzuki Racing , in aid of the Northern Irish Air Ambulance service .
Cheers Loon .

Put it this way i'm not sticking money on him , the great thing about supporting him though is you know at some point in the season he'll have a run of decent places , plus he's the only rider who speaks proper wink

Pretty bad taste that , Rick , timing wise and me being a lifelong Gene Wilder fan ...
However , Saturday being mainly a drinking day ( hospitality have ordered much in advance ) and Sunday more serious racing involvement day ( hopefully - Race 1 Sat . allowing ) , we shall keep a working eye out for you too !
Cheers !

Cheers Rick - you should spot us easily enough , we shall be wearing matching " See No Evil , Hear No Evil " sweatshirts and in fairness, out of respect , I'm thinking a prison cell would be the right and proper place to stay that night ....,
